I bought this 5 years ago and it still works perfectly fine. It’s fast, cheap, and durable. I was looking at one at best buy for about the same price but it wasnt even usb 2.0. this one is 3.2 gen 2. highly recomend

I get right about 1gigabyte per second (byte not bit) read and write on my macbook pro and a samsung 980 pro. That is about the peak number you'd expect after overhead on a 10gbps link. You never get an effective rate matching the theoretical number.Device is simple to assemble with a good manual and includes a magnetic screw driver (cheap plastic but does the job great) that lets you easily deal with the tiny screws involved.It has a piece of one-use thermal pad that I chose not to use as I'm going to use this as a way of prepping m.2 drives for use in other computers not as a permanent usb storage device.I tested both with BlackMagic Disk Speed Test as well as just copying large files to it and confirming that the time was commensurate with the test numbers. GIgabyte files copy in about a second.edit: Connected directly to my iphone16 and it's awful, it takes about 20 seconds to perform any read operation - it just sits there 20 seconds before the access light starts blinking. It's basically unusable. However, I hooked it up to a usb c hub via usb A cable it comes with and plugged in external power (wouldn't even turn on without external power) to the hub and the device works as expected. Iphone 16 can't provide enough power directly, I guess?A usb-c thumb drive connected directly to the phone operates perfectly but likely uses much less power.edit: connecting it to the phone via a powered usb-c hub via the included usb-c to usb-a cable works great.

It is a fully metal enclosure with a heat pad to direct built up SSD heat into the enclosure itself. Haven't had any issues with it and the speeds are excellent. Works perfectly with macOS.

This is a solid unit. Can't complain. Does not natively have a mounting hole if you have a size 2230 NVME but it works fine, just don't have a screw holding it in, I used the included silicone thermal pad to "stick" it into place. Overall you shouldn't expect "true" NVME speeds but its far faster than you get with typical USB thumb drives. See other reviews showing ~430MB/s (3.5Gbps) for USB 3.0/3.1 and ~1000MB/s (8Gbps) for USB 3.2 which is what I got with a WD SN520 NVME (PCIe Gen 3 x2) which natively specs out at 1700MB/s. The form factor for carrying a 256GB-2TB super-fast "USB drive" is worth the price point of this unit.

This works perfectly. I needed to clone an operating system SSD, and this is the ticket. Note when ordering that some SSD do not fit this carrier. The carrier comes with hardware, a tiny screwdriver, and a strip of conductive foam for heat reduction. When the strip is applied, take care when inserting the PCB and SSD into the case, as the leading edge of thefoam can catch the lip of the case. Two USB cables are included, a "A > C" and "C -> C". Good product, recommended.

nice piece. quality feel. works as expected. the metal case is durable and secured with a screw to make a nice permanent portable drive with a leftover nvme m2.

Decent, straightforward instructions--solid construction--decent cord quality. This does what is advertised. It runs pretty warm as expected and includes heat-dissipating tape that should last a while.

Works well! Was able to clone my hard drive perfectly without any problems. Assembly can be tricky but you’ll get it. USB ports connect well and the cables aren’t too long, it’s definitely worth your buck I am shocked it’s this cheap!
