Why can’t they fix this?
A little pricey @$4.00+ an ounce so getting a bottle with loose lid and almost half empty is a disappointment. The box felt a little mushy and smelled really good, so I should have just asked for replacement/sent it back. I was hoping it wouldn’t have been too empty and I could move on.Putting a foil on the bottle before screwing the top on and they would have this problem. Paying $4.00 an ounce they can afford this little upgrade in the manufacturing department to insure people actually get what they pay for.I haven’t actually used any of the product yet myself, so I can’t testify as to how well it works yet.Update:Of coarse Amazon fixed this issue quickly. New bottle, in a dry and straight box full to the top. I’ve deducted one star for the hassle but the product is AMAZING. Keeps my diamond stones in great shape and rust free while “floating” metal filings out of grit during the sharpening process. Trend would save a lot of product replacement with a foil on the top of their bottle that I can’t imagine would cost more than a few cents per bottle. (If that)

Bottle not sealed, significant leakage during shipment
I bought this based on recommendation from YouTuber Stumpy Nubs. However, I can't address the performance of the actual fluid because the bottle arrived with the cap not screwed on tight, and no seal on the top of the bottle, so had significant leakage of the product in shipment. C'mon Trend, this stuff is premium expensive! The least you can do is put a seal on the top of the bottle so it doesn't leak while in transit!

Caution: Possible Allergen
Three stars for the actual product: I guess it worked. I think oil is supposed to keep filings from sticking to diamond plates, and the trend fluid sure turned black quickly compared to water and Windex. But, as a sharpening newbie, I can't say that I saw an improvement in performance. I wanted to note here that the product gave me hives. One does so many different things in a day that it's hard to be sure, but the hives and Trend lapping fluid were too consistently related to be coincidence -- absent proper statistical analysis. The last time I used it, I broke out in hives so badly that if I scratched every place that itched in public, I'd be arrested for indecent exposure. I've only ever had one confirmed allergy in my life: I reacted to iodine injected into my veins because it's an ingredient in the dye used for CT scans (aka CAT scans). So I'm not an allergy prone person. I also haven't broken out to WD-40, mineral oil, various penetrating oils, gasoline, etc. So, I'm not sure what's in there that made me react, but I want buyers to be aware that this is a possibility. Caveat emptor.

Gosh-Danged Dear
9/2021, NEW, UPDATED: This was listed as 17 oz but the order section reflected a 8.4 oz quantity. I cannot find a 17 oz bottle at Amazon or at EBay, but EBay had a similar discrepancy in the quantity for one listing. I found an out of stock 17oz size at Walmart and then several places wanted ~$45 for the 17. I’m trying Smith’s product for diamonds and while it seems thicker my initial trial went well.SEVERAL YEARS AGO: I resisted buying this stuff for years. I read the reviews and listened to the youtube pieces. I used water and washer fluid but forgot to dry the stones and got lots of rust. So I got this stuff and have been happy ever since. I wake up in the morning with a song in my heart. OK, not so much for music, but it makes the stones cut faster and more smoothly, including the 8k diamond stone. The latter showed the most notable improvement. I'll keep buying it until i discover another fluid that appeals to my miserly nature.

Great product. Horrible container and applicator
First off the BAD. Rec bottle with loose cap and roughly 1/8 of product had leaked out. The provided cap/applicator allows product to leak out uncontrollably when you only need a small amount. Product also smells heavily of Petroleum. Now for the GREAT. I purchased this product to help protect my diamomd sharpening stones from rust/corrosion. It does this and then some. Previously I would use krud cutter or just water and dish soap as a cleaner/lubricant which from what I could tell worked but caused discoloration. Now that I've used Trend I now know what my diamomd stones really can do. My diamond stones cut MUCH faster, more consistently and they look NEW when iam done. I even used on older existing diamomd stones and Trend brought them back to almost new. Even improved their cutting ability. I will NEVER use anything else on diamomd stones but STRONGLY rec swapping out the container for something more consistent and distributes product more precisely. Will purchase again in hopes I rec a full bottle next time.

Product works.... Packaging - not so much!
I got the product in, new in box and peeled off the shrink wrap that was around the box and noticed the box was a little slick/wet; then unscrewed the cap that I noticed was barley on the bottle and thought....Surely there is one of those foil seals on the bottle to keep it from leaking..... NOPE!!!!!The slight wetness of the box was not moisture like I thought, it was the actual fluid. Now take into account that at $14.06 delivered(with tax) for a 3.4oz bottle that comes to $4.14 per ounce! - or 330% more per ounce than whiskey!

I have an issue with the AMAZON shipping NOT the product!
Paid $39 for 17 fluid ounces/500 ml - Trend lapping fluid. Fluid works great on knife sharpening diamond plates. This was a 2nd order as I am a user of this awesome product. My problem is that Amazon shipped the plastic bottle, inside of a plastic bag, inside of their NON-protective white, soft, mailing envelope. You get the picture? Upon arrival, I could smell the product. It had leaked out of the bottle, out of the plastic bag into the white mailing envelope.I will keep what’s left in the bottle - perhaps 90-95% of what is supposed to be there, because this product IS awesome, but I feel cheated by Amazon, likely trying to save a few pennies by NOT shipping it in a box, at my expense!!!I have only the option of returning the product, which I will not do because the product IS a winner, and no apparent easy way to get this rectified.

Top Quality !
I bought a Sharpel Diamond Whetstone, which are a top brand but not quite as expensive as Trend.I did few chisels with it, but then wondered if this Diamond Abrasive Lapping Fluid would help, although at around £22 it seemed expensive, although you do get 250ml.I don't mind paying good money providing it does tha job as it is supposed to and this definitely does do what it says - it is literally amazing !It is a petroleum based oil, think WD-40, but 10 times better, and it makes sharpening a lot easier too. After using it I just wiped the diamond whetstone with cloth and all was well.If you have ANY make of diamond whetstone you really MUST use this, and it will last a very long time too as you don't need much, so it does work out value for money in the long run and I will never be without it now.

Another leaking top.
Arrived with loose top so loads had leaked out, melted the glue on the box, everything stinks of the fluid. Not used it, sending it back. What a shame Why don’t they sort out the bottle so it doesn’t leak?

Leaky bottle
As a lapping fluid it’s fine, it does the job, the thing that annoys me though is that given this price the bottle and cap leak anytime it’s in any state other than upright. On delivery the box and label were soaked and I end up with more of it on my hands than on my diamond stone.

Does what it says on the tin
Keeps my diamond card clean and helps put a fine edge on my chisels, the drop of point is because it's hard to control how much comes out of the bottle, without a dropper nozzle it's difficult to put a drop or two on the card as it's very inaccurate pouring from the bottle.

Leacky Bottle
As another two reviewers have said the bottle often leaks inside the packaging, given that it says its a toxic/poisionous liquid i think the caps should be far better. the fluid on the other hand does the job but for value for money at £10 a bottle and half of it missing due to leakage its not good value.
