Even if you had no intention of taking up the craft of embroidering felt birds, you might be tempted to buy this book because of the sheer beauty of its designs and the stunning photography portraying them. If you ARE a practitioner of this craft, sprint, do not walk to Amazon (metaphorically) and get your copy. The templates are full size (Yay!) and the instructions could not be clearer. I have just put in an order on Amazon for the supplies I will need. Amazon has a lovely palette of wool blend felt squares and everything you will need to get going. Definitely buy the wool blend felt which the author recommends. It makes such a difference. It's a little bit of a splurge but these beautiful avians deserve it! Enjoy!

I really have a problem when you buy a book for its pattern and you must trace out every single piece because 1. the pieces overlap and 2. there are other patterns on the back. Please, authors stop doing this, charge me more for a book with spaced out templates and blank back, otherwise I will just get free templates on line. This is the only reason why this book did not get a five stars, otherwise it is lovely, with good instructions but I am not going to use the patterns as the projects lose the fun factor when you have to do all the extra work.

DO NOT get this book on kindle. I did not realise that it was print replica and patterns not available which make this book a waste of money. Pretty picture and instructions just are not enough. Book is expensive enough without only getting one third of the book. Will return

This book gives very detailed instructions for making beautiful birds using folk-style methods. The introduction includes excellent step-by-step instructions for each type of stitching to use for the details. I recommend spending a little more to get quality felt. The end result is worth it!

I like this book because the patterns can be used as stencils, for applique or for the ornaments.The author has included suggested hand embroidery as well.Well written, instructions, and diagrams. Excellent for novice or experienced crafter.I would buy again

Not sure why the author decided to just crap out on the beaks for most of the birds because most of them look terrible with the beaks made as shown. Easy enough to fix by altering the pattern. Other than the crappy beaks, a very nice book and good patterns.

This was a Christmas gift for my 13-year old grand-daughter who enjoys felting. She loves it and has made several really cute birds. I gave her the book with a pack of felt squares and some embroidery floss. The only negative observation is the bird patterns are printed on both sides of the page, which means if you cut out a pattern, you've destroyed what was on the back of the sheet (another pattern or instructions). I think folks would be willing to pay a little more and have the patterns on one-sided paper, so they could be removed.

I was drawn to the book by the birds on the cover. Not only will these make a great tabletop display, but cute ornaments as well. I love the thorough embroidery stitch directions. Cannot wait to start stitching these birds!

Lovely book. Easy to follow. Great pictures. Templates the right size so no reducing/enlarging - unless you want to. I'm very happy with this book and looking forward to making something from it.

Absolutely love this book. Great folk designs in scrumptious colours. Clear insfructions. I ordered some of the receommended felt - mix of wool and viscose. This is a beautiful quality and far superior to most of the craft shop felt fabrics. Lovely colours as well, complementing the designs in the book.

This is a lovely book. Techniques and instructions on embroidery stiches are clearly described making the book suitable for experienced sewers and beginners. The patterns and instructions with illustrations and full colour pictures for each bird are provided and are clear and easy to follow. The birds are delightful and I am steadily working my way through all of them. Another great book from Corinne Lapierre.

Great book.This is a good book, very well designed and laid out in full colour.I think there's something in here for most stitchery levels, if unsure maybe just omit the more decorative parts and focus on joining the body pieces until you get to grips with it.I think this book is worth every penny, and definitely one of the better crafty books.I hope you fine this review helpful.

What a beautiful book. I received it on Saturday and by the end of Sunday had made the flamingo (I only had pink felt in). I’m very happy with the instructions and the patterns are clear, photographs beautiful. I only have light gauge wire in but I’ll replace it with 18 gauge with next month’s hobby pennies. Delighted and can’t wait to make more.
