Love the Story not previously written
To get the full story of the courting and marriage was grand! It was like reviewing for a test in college. Interesting time to read it though, 2 or 3 books later. Nevertheless I enjoyed the book thoroughly!

Sweet!
I loved reading about Father Tim's and Cynthia's wedding. Humor, joy, sensitive prose lovingly written. And a sense of peace over all. Best to read the first two or three books in the series, so you know the characters and why they think as they do.

Wedding Bells in Mitford!
A look at the events leading up to the marriage of Mitford's rector, Father Tim, and his next door neighbor, Cynthia Coppersmith. All of the regular citizens of Mitford get to weigh in with POV thoughts, which makes this book every bit as entertaining as its predecessors. Another delightful excursion into small town living with characters who virtually burst from the pages, they are so well drawn and developed.

Comments on "A common life"
I read the Midford seies some years ago, visiting my 2. cousin in Thornton, Pennsylania. The books were didferent from the Christian literature I'm used to read. I fell completely in love With them! I enjoyed so much the humour, the sweetness and the tenderness in the books that seemed to envelope everything. The way Father Timothy was towards his parisheners, and how he tried to help everybodyi - and at the same time he was so human and so wonderfully sweet and funny. Then there are all the other charactres; I cried with them and laughed With thwm - in fact I don't know any other books that have made me laugh so much. I read at night, and disturbed my husband's sleep because I couldn't stop laughing. Most of al,l the books hit my heartt and soul regarding faith and how to pray and live. Now I've read them again, and I enjoyed them perhaps even more: it was like meeting old, dear friends. It also brought back sweet memories from my stay in Pennsylvania. My cousin is older than me. And wiser! I love her dearly; we are like soul mates. As for this last book; "A common life", it was good in the way it kind of summond up the different charactres and their ways. But I was sad when I had read it, because then there were no more books to read, and I have to say goddbye to Timothy and Cynthia; a real princess. I wish I could have coffee and a nice chat with her, perhaps she'd teach me a few tricks about painting...

A moving wedding story if there ever was one
This was, as usual, an enjoyable read. I so like following the meanderings of Father Tim and Cynthia, along with all the other characters.

Must read for Father Tim fans
If you have read the Mitford series and LOVE Father Tim and the Mitford characters, this description of the wedding of Father Tim and Cynthia is a must read. It fills in the blanks with the details of the time surrounding the wedding and gives before un-heard perspectives from many of the beloved townsfolk. You'll have your "AHHHHHHH" moments and your "Oh my goodness, not again!" moments!! At least you'll know from the earlier books that they DO get married, so you'll survive the drama that unfolds as only Jan Karon can present these two lovable characters. If you haven't read "At Home in Mitford" and the 2 companion books, you need to read those before you tackle this one. It would fit nicely after the book where they talk about them being married. Enjoy!

Charming all the way through
Though some time has passed since I have read any of the Mitford books, this installment drew me right back into the little town with its charming citizens and stories, and I daresay this may be my favorite of the bunch. A little shorter and simpler than the other books, this brings forth all the magic and delight of a wedding--Mitford style. It's a fresh, warm-hearted story that slows down and considers all the thoughts of those involved with Father Tim and Cynthia's big day. There is humor and plenty of heart, and the story just hits all the right notes.

Wishing for mire warmth and emotion.
Enjoyed the bits that filled in the wedding sorry but felt the book was an after- thought and quickly written leaving a new reader "out in the cold" in many important relationships. Missing the emotion of the other books.
