Light-weight life saver - perfect bath reading
I gave this to my major fox babe, SaraJ, for *her* 30th along with the Fruit Bats' "Mouthfuls" CD.Thanks to Amazon's amazing 'Search Inside the Book' ability, I was able to confirm 29's total suitability and silliness as a gift from sexy Sara's 'Jerk Official Reserve Date' (JORD), which is my discreet rôle when her Davy's not around or when he's committed some adorable gaffe that calls for exile and a strategic pout.Title apart, which got me a biff round the ear for dubbing Sara a 'chick' (voluptuous vixens are *never* chicks: they spring fully formed from the womb as major babes), the book is humorous enough to read snippets from aloud after the second bottle of Dom Perignon. Or, à deux, over a jug of Bloody Mary in a cosy Badedas-drenched bath.It also helps if, as does Sara, the recipient looks a sprightly 25, behaves half that age, and has a star-struck chappie in tow oblivious to *how* many candles sputter on the gâteau. Most of the embittered crones *I* help across the big three-oh threshold have had all humor squeezed from them by constant dumpings or the screams of toy boys as they flee the haggard spectacle. For such crypt-keepers, Ms Tilsner's ace volume will only tip them sooner into the pit of has-been misery and despair.A splendid oeuvre that I must stock up on, not just for future 30th birthday babes but as the perfect goading gift for mummified creatures already past it.

Changed my life (seriously!)
I meant to write this review two decades ago. Sorry. At the time I bought this book, I was a young professional in NYC, working 80 hours a week, frequently hungover and broke. I was about to turn 30 and wasn’t where I wanted to be. I wasn’t engaged to be married or a VP at my firm or let’s face it - I couldn’t make the minimum payments on my credit cards. I was a mess.I read this book and became inspired to change things up. I left NYC for Sydney. I went to Fiji. I lived and worked in Australia for two years, then traveled some more, and then lived and worked in London. Finally, I ended up in San Francisco where I met my husband and had my kids. On my journey I backpacked through countries most only dream of like Morocco, Indonesia, the Maldives, Vietnam, India and Papau New Guinea. I founded a start up. I lost it. But I don’t regret trying. I’m dead serious when I say that this book helped me to get off track in a meaningful way.

Great gift idea
I purchased this for my best friend for her birthday and she loved it. Turning 30 isn't fun, and this book is a great little read for those at that age and stage in life.

Not easy to relate to as a 30 yr old
I was extremely disappointed with this book and the fact that none of the reviews I read seemed to mention that the author is highly un-relatable unless you happened to be a binge drinking, drug taking, promiscuous girl in your 20's. She mentions many times the use of recreational drugs and talks about drinking and sleeping with random friends or acquaintances. She is shocked when she finds out that one of her girlfriends has only slept with two men in her life, "gasp"! This was hardly my experience in my 20's so I wasn't having her same fear of "growing up". I have been responsible most of my life and was more looking for a book with guidance about "where does it go from here"? There were a few funny or poignant moments here and there and it was a quick read so I gave it 2 stars rather than 1, but if you are a married woman on a decent career path at 29, you will not find this book is for you.

half depressing/half enlightening
On the verge of 30, I started to seek out books to help me survive the crisis of it all. Judging from the reviews, this book looked like it would fit the bill. It did somewhat...I say that because, well, it actually almost didn't.I found the first half of this book to be depressing, reminding me that I wasn't a young doe anymore...ugh! But, the second half helped to redeem the book in my eyes, explaining why 30 was so great. You can't tell that this half and half action will happen by reading the chapter titles, etc., but it does. Also - keep in mind that this book is categorized as humor/self help, and it is just that, emphasis on humor. If you are looking for a psychology perspective, professional advice or something like that - you won't find that here. The only credentials that the author has are that she once turned 30 herself. This book is an attempt to make light of it all - but I found it to be quite depressing at times! I think I am now even more scared about turning 30 than I ever was! But Julie Tilsner does help you to realize that you are not the only one who is going through this.

29 and Counting
This book is EXCELLENT! Before I read it, I felt depressed and sad that I would soon be turning 30. After reading it, I feel like l'm entering a new chapter in my life. The way the book is written will make you laugh out loud. It's a MUST read for any woman fast approaching 30.

Nice gift
Having got this as a little gift for a 30th birthday present I can't say too much about what the book is about, arrived quickly and made a nice present.
