Nice, but not perfect
It’s a beautifully made scratchplate no question. When I unwrapped it, it looked utterly stunning. However, I had two problems. 1) There are no neck pickup mounting holes. The pickguard is undrilled to suit vintage style guitars, where the neck pickup mounts directly to the body. I had to drill two holes to mount my neck pickup as the routing in the control cavity on a modern Telecaster doesn’t suit direct pickup mounting 2) The pickguard is very slightly bigger than the Fender standard. This created two problems for me; the screw holes for mounting the pickguard onto the guitar don’t line up absolutely perfectly - it’s very close but it’s not perfect; As it’s slightly too big a very small portion of the pickguard slightly overlaps the control plate. Not very noticeable, I can live with it, but it’s quite annoying.Given that most people who want to replace a scratchplate are probably upgrading a modern Telecaster (Squier, Mex or American STD) it seems to me that pre-drilling the holes for the neck pick up is a no brainer. Do people with vintage Telecasters really install modern looking scratchplates that are out of character with the originals? Wouldn’t have thought so. The biggest fault for me though is the slight oversizing - that is a product fault to my mind.
