Great Unit
Found a great gauge in this product, for once I chose the one that works just the way I wanted it to. You read so many reviews good bad and otherwise that confusion enters in. Sometimes I think the bad reviews are written by the competition but that aside, this unit works very well. I went with the more expensive batteries and it has been working fine. I must clarify that I do live in Northern Florida so am not in the really cold weather. It has been down to the upper 20's but not for a long length of time so I cannot speak to those having problems in colder weather.

Good Quality
It's well made, and I suspect that for people living in a warmer clime it is a good value. Up here in Vermont the poor thing almost never gets to the major indicator (the Hunudex) since abut 45+ weeks of the years it is too cold. It was valid or two weeks last year. So, the biggest section of the "readout" is not valid in a cold climate. Maybe my sister in Florida will like it for her birthday.

Good features for the price
It's a bit bigger than I thought it would be, but works well - excellent price for the functionality.Had a bit of trouble getting the base and remote to synch at first - tried powering up the base first, then the remote, and couldn't synch. Then tried powering up the remote first and then the base, and they synched up right away.Appears to give a more accurate temperature reading than our old mercury outdoor thermometer, with both in the shade.

Not below 80 degrees
WE live in Florida and thought this device would be great to let us know the outside conditions before we went for our morning walk, when the temp is usually in the 70's. This device will not display the US Heat Index below 80 degrees. When it reaches 80 degrees the heat index is 86. If you switch to the Canadian Humidex it will display below 80 degrees.
