Freeze Dried Uncooked Hamburger Patties: The freeze dried uncooked Hamburger Patties are a whopping 1/2-inch thick. All cans were sealed in an oxygen and moisture free environment. This freeze dried product is raw and does require cooking after rehydrating. Rehydrate patties as soon as a can is opened. Use enough cold or lukewarm water to cover the meat. Handle patties carefully as they may break easily. Soak for 20-30 minutes or until patties are moistened and fully reconstituted. If any hard spots are felt, soak an additional 5-10 minutes. Note: 1 pound of freeze dried beef patties equals to 4 pounds of fresh ground patties (1 lb 5 oz per can). Each can contains between 15 and 16 hamburger patties, and to use just soak in lukewarm, salted tap water for 20 minutes and cook They come out of the can looking just like a beef patty you would get at your grocer's deli - and there was no shrinkage when we cooked them. They are 90% lean, mean beef with minimal processing so all the amino acids and nutrients that you would normally find in beef haven't been taken out. We've found that although great with only a 20 minute soak in warm tap water, if you let them sit longer they get even more tender. You can expect to get 25+ years out of them in the can - and probably as many as 30 to 40 since there is no water or oxygen in the can to spoil them!!!
