This product is on the outside beautiful, don’t get me wrong there, but on the inside? Well due to lack of instructions, because what they consider instructions are a small scribble diagram on a cocktail napkin, I was not able to wire this into my ceiling fan. After digging around myself online staring at a half dangling switch from my wall was that my home did not have the wiring compatible with this switch. Which is fine. But if the seller had put some better instructions or elaborated a bit on the product page, I would of happily moved on and not wasted 3 hours just to put everything back in the wall with my boring old switch and then just go buy a universal fan remote.

After installation my fan started making a low buzzing noise. I put my old switch back in and the buzzing stopped. This happened with two different fans I tried, both Hunter brand. After a little research, I found that it may be due to the fact that many variable speed converters create a square wave instead of a sine wave. I don't know if this is a problem with other brand fans.Also, the WiFi connection must happen on the 2.4 MHz band, not the 5MHz band. If you have a dual band router, you have to disable the 5MHz frequency during installation. The instructions are not clear about this; I tried configuring the switch while the 5 MHz band was active and it didn't happen. I finally firured it out through a little Googling.

I purchased this to use in my bathroom for the light. I chose this model primarily for the "night light" functionality, more on that later. Installation was easy with this disclaimer, I have been doing electrical wiring and work for over 20 years but it should be easy to figure out, if you find yourself struggling with it stop and call an electrician. The switch itself works well, was easy to add to the "smart life" app and functions perfectly both with the app and with Alexa. The only electrical issue I encountered is that if I connect the ground it trips the GFCI breaker supplying my bathroom, I didn't bother checking as with the switch design I personally don't feel it is required for my installation but I suspect there is a connection between neutral and ground either in the switch or at the wall box and this is the reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars, I will update this review if I ever pull the switch back out and test it. Integration with Alexa was also flawless and simple. I setup a schedule with the smart life app to have the night light come on at 11:00PM and go off at 6:00AM and my only complaint is that following the schedule seems to be rather hit and miss but I suspect that is an app / server issue and not an issue with the switch, your mileage may vary. Overall I would purchase this again and recommend it to anyone looking for an item like this.

First time installing a smart light switch and I was surprised how easy it was to get this light switch connected. The instructions were simple to follow and I just need to make sure that my existing junction box has a neutral wire.After removing my old light switch, I just connected the wires to the Faroot smart switch according to the manual, screw in the mounting plate and snap on the face plate to finish.Then I downloaded the SmartLife app on to my iPhone and followed the instructions on the app to connect the smart switch to my home Wifi. After making sure I am able to control the lights through the app, I proceed to connect the smart switch to Amazon Alexa. Now I am enjoying the convenience of controlling the living room light through Alexa! I plan to purchase more of this smart switch to control more lights around the house.

If you are looking for a tool that gives you chance to live the future "smart" life, this is definitely the one item that you should install for your fan light. It might be a little tough to install the switch if you are not familiar with electricity or machine, but once it is installed by anyone nearby who is good with those jobs, you will find yourself how awesome this is. I never expected to be able to turn off light or control fan simply using my smartphone. Definitely worth trying this switch!

I have bought philips link and hue light but it is living room, i want same thing in my upstair so i was searching for smart switch so that i can make light ON without going up. I just want to try smart switch. I bought this switch, it is easy to install i have little issue with alexa but i can use smart link app. I recommend to use this.

This was very easy to install and works great. I just wish they had a double light, fan switch so I could put them all over my house. App is great for when I need to turn light on for dog. Alexa works perfectly with it.

Product was broken when I’m received and every effort to try and get authorized to return it has been a failure.
