Velotak Bicycle Race Number Mount

For triathlons I am required to have a number on my bike. However, I have a carbon bike with irregular (fat and tapered) tubes and the standard race numbers just don't fit or stay still on my bike. This kit gives you a nice little bracket that sticks out from your seat post onto which you can attach your number. The bracket attaches with a larger zip tie and smaller zip ties can be used to make sure your number (usually made from durable tyvek) stays attached to the bracket (you need to poke holes in your number but I would absolutely do so to make sure the number doesn't slide off the bracket). I used it for an Olympic distance event and it did the job.So let me be clear, it works fine and it solves a real problem for folks with bike frames that race numbers just don't work with very well.My major gripe is the price. The price fluctuates but you are spending $18 for a plastic bracket that probably costs pennies to mold. It also contains a larger rectangular plate that I couldn't quite figure out what to do with. Consider the following alternative: grab a bag of the larger (12" maybe) zip ties, put one around the seat post, attached your number to the extra that sticks out and trim the extra to length. You can get fancy and drill holes in the extra and use smaller zip ties through the number to really keep it still. It probably costs you $0.50 that route. The bracket that comes with this kit is nicer looking (if you care about how good your number looks attached to your bike during a race), but functionally the large zip tie approach gets the job done much cheaper.

As a triathlete, I'm required to put my race number on my bike. These typically come in the form of a piece of tyvek "paper" with LOTS of gummy, gooey adhesive. These are designed to be affixed over your top bar. It's already bad enough, when you're tired after an event, to have to clean the road grime off of your bike, but the added effort of having to use Goo Gone or other methods to remove the adhesive from your bike number is a pain!This product is well-made and easy to install. With this race number mount on my bike, I don't have to worry about my bike number coming off, irritating my legs, or creating a mess to clean up from the number's adhesive. There are quite a number of impressive options for how to install this on your particular styled bike!There are SO many little things that you can buy for your particular hobby that have questionable value, this is NOT one of them. This really is a product that will make your triathlons more enjoyable because it removes one more thing (your bike race number) from the list of things you need to worry about!

I used this for my first tri and it was easy to install and displayed my bib perfect. Would highly recommend.

Easy to install, worked beautifully, kept the sticky gummy stuff of my bike.

I have used this now in 3 triathlons and I love it. It keeps my bike clean. The race number stickers are really easy to peal off the flag. It is a MUST for any racer that cares about their bike! Love it and I am recommending it to anyone I know.
