Has been a big help. a heavy help.
Product does what it is supposed to. It is not sexy, it is not sleek, and you won't want to carry it around in your purse. It is bulky, heavy, and not so easy on the eyes, but it does EVERYTHING I need. Power to run a few devices from the US here in europe. It does it effortlessly and quietly with the flip of a switch.Would I buy it again. Darn right. Have used it to power a heavy duty, 3-bank Panamax line conditioner, 42" Pioneer plasma, computer, monitor, and Nintendo wii at the same time. Did it like a champ.Don't recommend having your wife pick it up for you in the US and bringing it back, or you'll end up massaging feet for a while! And her lower back!Check it out if you need something similar. Dont go selling off your devices and TVs and all that just yet.

Great converter
I bought this voltage converter to be able to use my kitchen robot from Portugal. I live in the US now where voltage is 110V instead of 220V. I could not be happier. Very quiet transformer, runs really well. I've had it for a month now with no problems. I use the machine to cook 2 to 3 times a day. I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the price and the 16kg of weight. I might have to leave it behind when I move back home though...

Worked fine... until a burning smell came out of it.... customer service not helpful
Bought in August 2012 to run a steam iron, the Iron is 2200w, i bought the 3000w. Stopped working in December 2013. But had tripped my electric on occasions before this, or switched off because of over heating. Spoke with Power Bright customer service May 2014 ,the conversation below says it all about their products. You:I bought Power Bright VC3000W Voltage Transformer 3000 Watt Step Up/Down converter 110/120 Volt - 220/240 Volt, from Amazon August 2012. It has stopped working, seems to have a burning smell coming from it and trips. You:I was wondering what the warranty is on them?Dan:it has a 1 year warranty, we can do what is called an out of warranty repair quoteYou:how much would that cost? You:would it cost more than by a new one?Dan:you would have to pay to ship the unit in, we would take a look at it and quote you the cost of repairing itDan:it may be cheaper to buy a new one and have a new warrantyDan:the unit is 37 poundsYou:wow that would cost a lot, I don't think i will use your brand again , the competing brand has 3 year warranty.Dan:we have a unit with a 5 year warranty but it is more expensiveYou:Thanks for your time. You:Is it higher than 3000vYou:and if i encounter issues before the 5 years are up, who pays for shipping back to get it repairedDan:we do not make units larger than 3000 watts, it is unsafeDan:you would, but the units are also half the weightYou:can i get the units details so i can do some researchDan:The Krieger brand can be viewed on this page about halfway down:[...]Dan:the largest model is 1700 wattsYou:i need 3000, my iron is 2200Dan:that may be part of your issue with the existing converterDan:with the heating element its startup energy surge most likely surpasses 3000 wattsYou:it worked great for almost 2 yearsDan:most cars will doo 100mph, but we dont drive 100 every where we go, cars wouldnt last longYou:I will post your comments as a review on amazon. Had to start with having it repaired in the first week
The fuse housing was defective so I had to pay for a repair, as I had already taken it out of the country and it's too expensive to return because the weight and international shipping.Has worked after repair. It is quite loud.

Powerbright VC3000W
I've used this transformer for a month now, on a daily basis and it has worked well for me. It is well constructed but HEAVY! The power switch is heavy duty and the instrument gives you a useful variety of input and output voltages, so you can use this in any country. I am using it to run kitchen appliances that I purchased in Europe. These appliances draw ~1200 watts at 220V, so I purchased a transformer with more than twice the wattage rating for safety. The transformer remains cool to the touch when in use. I don't have any other appliances drawing current on the same circuit, when the transformer is in operation to make sure that I don't trip the house circuit breakers. I also make sure that I switch off the transformer when I'm done, so that it does not continue to draw power and waste electricity when not in use. So far it has performed flawlessly and I would recommend this product.Update (8/24/2013): I've used this transformer for a year and have had no problems with it.

Works, but makes strange sounds sometimes and not perfect for more delecate equipment
It works well enough, providing power for everything I use. It happily powered a popcorn maker and my tumble dryer which are quite power hungry. However my speakers make clicking sounds if it has not warmed up (not sure if this my my speakers of the transformer, but I blame the transformer). Also it is very sensitive to power use by other devices, plugged in elsewhere. For example when my laser printer is running (from a normal outlet, not on the transformer), the transformer makes some pretty loud noises which do not sound healthy. It's not great, but it works and is at a very good price point.
