Star Wars: Princess Leia

What I love about this story is that it balances the required ...
After the destruction of the Death Star, the Rebels need to leave Yavin in a hurry. Princess Leia wants to be part of the action, but General Dodona, wanting to both protect her and give her time to grieve the loss of Alderaan, forbids her to get involved. So Leia recruits (commandeers) Evaan, an Alderaanian pilot who is not at all impressed by her, and goes searching for other survivors from the lost planet. What I love about this story is that it balances the required action sequences of a Star Wars story with a focus on Princess Leia's heritage, her diplomatic strengths, and her deep love for her people and culture. This is the character I felt drawn to in Star Wars, and I wish that the saga had let her develop more along the lines of this portrayal: a leader, a diplomat, a smart, adventurous woman of principle.

Great story
This is a great comic, an adventurous glimpse into more results of the destruction of Alderaan. But what I really want to review is the seller: Fast, excellent packaging, new condition. I'm very pleased.

Leia right after A New Hope, dealing with the destruction of her homeworld
In Star Wars: A New Hope, Leia's homeworld is destroyed. Her family is gone. This graphic novel covers Leia's journey directly after the film closes. As many see her as an ice princess, she finds a way to lead her people while still fighting against the Empire.Evaan is first introduced in this comic. She is an interesting counter to Leia. I like how the new canon keeps taking Leia to Naboo. The stained glass Queen Amidala was very cool to see.I enjoyed this graphic novel. I hope Marvel continues making miniseries like this. I give this graphic novel a 5/5.

The Beginnings of General Organa
An excellent portrayal of Leia's struggle to establish herself as a leader among fragmented people in chaotic times. I enjoyed this most of all of the new books as it seemed to carry the most emotion. The stories in the others are slightly better, but I feel that Waid and company really did an amazing job developing a character often overshadowed by her father and brother.

Nice gift for a Star Wars fan.
Got this as a birthday present for a relative. A little disappointed with the delivery date considering it was delivered a couple of days past the original described date. As for the book, the recipient thought is was great as she is a Star Wars fan.

Perfect Art
I am loving all the new Star Wars comics by Marvel. The art here bumped this comic from 4/5 to 5/5. This is a smart read and fits nicely between movies 3 and 4 in the Star Wars universe. Also this made me see Leia in a better heroic light.

Short and sweet
This is a stand alone story for Leia with only 5 issues that fills in some of her activity after Episode IV. Short and sweet, left me wanting more to this story but I will look for more of her exploits in the other volumes that are being printed.

I want more!!!!!
This book delivers fully in every facet, from art to writing and everything in between.I am sad that it is not an ongoing series as it's one of the best pieces of writing to come out in the new continuity.

Consigliato

A must for SW fans
Upon opening I was immediately a little put off by the differing art style to Star Wars and Darth Vader, but I quickly came to like it. The first four chapters are good - four star standard, but I feel the final chapter is so superb that it brings the whole novel up to five stars overall.
