I bought this as a replacement for another brand (I won't say which here, but it is the typical black box transformer, made in China), which had not worked 100% of the time and broke after a few months of very light use. That manufacturer could not be contacted about a warranty at all--literally, they do not publish any contact information, and a phone number I got from the Illinois white pages was not a working number.Anyway, that is a long-winded way of getting to the fact that I had tried to save a little money with a cheaper product the first time, and learned my lesson, so I purchased this, which seems like a much more reliable product, and they promote a lifetime warranty.It is actually smaller than the one I had before, and clearly a higher quality product. The family has been very pleased with it so far. We primarily use it for a nice Panasonic coffee maker that my wife can't do without. Without a transformer, it just doesn't work properly. I wish that I'd bought this one in the first place and saved some aggravation.

If you have a Japanese appliance that you want to run in the US then you want to buy one of these converters. My wife runs her Japanese noodlemaker or her footmassage machine on it. Gets warm, which is expected, but not hot. She can run these things continuously with no issue. I was tempted to buy a cheaper chinese-made converter. I'm glad I paid extra for this one. This thing is heavy duty.
