Cinderella Hardcover – Picture Book, September 18, 2012

i bought this for the illustrations by one of my favorite artists. this book is so darling & a whimsical addition to any (inner) child’s book collection. a classic that you’ll love reading to your little ones if you have them 🩷

Ok, I LOVE the "Cinderella" story. Every version has merits. It is very spiritual to me. Once I went to work dressed in a princess gown with elbow-length gloves and tiara --the whole deal. I am transgender so I am basically still a little girl inside. I could never be me, so it is still what I want to be. I sometimes laugh and cry just watching little girls play. They are me. I love me. I love everyone. The art in this book is simply AMAZING. I love it. Just so you know, I UNDERSTAND what it is like and what it feels like to be treated with stereotypes, bludgeoned with inadequate dismissiveness because of gender of who you really are. When I came out as me, when that glass-slipper fit me, and my male self said "I found you!" I was like YES. So everyone sees their own struggle in the greatest stories. And they learn universal things which can connect them to their world. Let people be who they really are, I love them.

The illustrations in this book are breathtakingly beautiful. Great illustrations are often missing from Kindle Books so this is a refreshing and wonderful experience. I read to a group of preschoolers often and illustrations are critical to keeping all of them engaged.I was looking forward to having my Kindle because of the convenience of borrowing books from the library and using it to read to my young students but there are very few library books available and those that are have very few or no illustrations. I'd almost given up on trying to read to them from my Kindle until this book. I had to buy it, but Cinderella is such a staple that it was money well spent.

The story is good and the message to our 5 year old granddaughter is better. The book is well illustrated and stays to the stories intent.

This was supposed to be a birthday present (and an attempt to diverge from the usual disney iconography). Unfortunately the book arrived on the day of the party with a damaged cover so I had to send it back and get something else. I will reorder it for my own children though, the illustrations are pretty and whimsical, and while I only had a quick look at the text it overall looks better written then the (terrible) Disney literature... Also, I was surprised to see that this book is actually published by Amazon...?! (Thumbs up Amazon for publishing quality paper books! :)

Very cute and sweet introduction into this story. The Cinderella story is known all around the world and there are so many different versions. The artwork in this is simple and very cute. Perfect for a very young child

There are many reviews already about the story and the wonderful illustrations, and I cannot add much more. However, I do want to point out that the Kindle ebook uses extremely low resolution images, rendering the gorgeous illustrations fuzzy. When there are so many ways to reduce image size while preserving the quality of the image, this is unacceptable. I will revise or remove this ONE-STAR review when this issue is fixed. I have viewed many illustrated ebooks, and this book stands out as having the fuzziest images that I can remember. Yes, I can appreciate the art even at these extremely low resolutions, but it leaves me yearning for more, and the low resolution used deprives us of the full talent of the artist. If the print version used this low of a resolution, no one would buy it.

I expected it to be more like the large Disney Cinderella book I grew up with. Pictures are beautiful. A bit advanced reading skill than the 2nd grader.

Great illustrations, but some quite remarkable gaps in the storyline, such as 'what happens to the father'. My three year old daughter loves it however, so I simply add-lib sections to avoid going into meltdown myself.Once again though, those illustrations are sublime.
