Improved sight acquisition in dim light, but will require some hand fitting
I have a S&W Model 66-8 Combat Magnum. I ordered these tritium night sights with a little trepidation, having read some not so great reviews about fitment issues. I am happy to report that I had no issues with the rear sight spring and plunger fitting into the windage adjustment screw. I did have to file down the base of the rear tritium sight because it was fitting a little too snugly to allow smooth windage adjustment. Other than that, the rear sight was a very simple swap affair. The front sight is made to be slightly oversized so that it will fit tight into the red insert dovetail. I had to knock out the red insert first with a brass punch, then use a file to remove a small amount of metal from the tritium insert. I only removed just enough to allow one side of the insert to get started into the dovetail slot. Once started, I used a plastic punch and hammer to drive the insert the rest of the way into the dovetail till it was flush on both sides. It took a bit of force and mangled the tip of my punch, but I am confident the insert will not be going anywhere, even with the hardest of recoiling magnum loads. The tritium dots are easy to see with dark-adjusted vision and are not all that impressive under daylight or typical ambient indoor lighting. They are not glow-in-the-dark and wonβt glow with anywhere near the same intensity, but they will stay glowing at a steady state for over a decade and not require any prior charging with light. At the range, I found the sight dots easy to acquire and shoot with. The front insert is really no taller than the top of the front blade and so, should not change that aiming reference. The rear insert is taller than the OE blade and so, left at the same height, I was hitting about 3β high at 10yds. Thankfully, I had enough elevation adjustment to bring things back down to point of aim, but just barely so.Overall, I think these sights are a worthy investment if one is willing to put in some hand-fitting effort and is looking for something that will perform better in low light. It took me about an hour to install things with all the hand fitting I had to do. I am pleased with how things turned out for me.

Fantastic improvement over the factory sight.
Fantastic night sight for my S&W 686-2 + 7 shot .357mag. Fairly easy to install if you have the right tools. I strongly suggest buying a #54 drill bit (or set of them! there is a set of 10 on Amazon for $7, well worth it! HTS 116Z8 10 Pc Titanium Coated Twist Drill Bits (54) ) to remove and install the new front sight. You did have to drill into the new front sight with the #54 bit to set the roll pin. I bought the set of #54's, cut one of them and used it as a #54 punch to get the roll pin out (as somebody else here suggested, thanks!). That worked like a charm, and then I used another #54 from the set to drill the new sight. The rear sight comes right off after breaking the original bolt off, and the new one is easy to install.Functionally, the old red ramp on the front and very narrow sight picture on the rear sight was almost useless to me. I love my 686+, but the factory sight was absolutely TERRIBLE. This makes a world of difference, AND, it is a night sight to make it even better.

Good But Not Great, takes extra work to install.
I have Meprolight sights on almost all of my handguns. I just recently installed this set on my S&W 625, after install they look great, clear and crisp outline, and bright at night. I'm giving 4 stars because of the difficulty with install. I'm an experienced "tinkerer", fully capable and confident in my gun smithing abilities, and these were a bear to get installed correctly, and required special fitting. The wind age screw nut was oversized and needed to be reduced in size to fit properly. The screws staking point is thin, and if there's any friction on the nut it will pull out after staking. I set mine w/ red locktite before staking. The front sight blade is undersized for the cutout, and requires it be firmly clamped in place before drilling. I ended up putting a dab of epoxy in to set the blade in place to take up the side to side play. After install, the pistol shoots high, 8" at 15 yards, with the elevation bottomed out. I can work around this, in practice, but make more precise shooting almost impossible.

Detent not included, factory detent is to big.
The sights by them selfs are not bad, but the factory detent does not fit in side of the rear windage adjustment. While attempting to make adjustments to make the existing detent it launched across my shop. The sights are good, its hard to go wrong with tritium, but with parts that don't match the factory parts, and doesn't ship with the part you need its hard to write a positive review.
