Not tied to electrical outlet.
A compact nebulizer that produces cool and heated mist. It uses proprietary Crane vaporpads that are smaller than most. It seems that you could trim another company’s pads and use them. The Crane pads currently come only in a nice eucalyptus and menthol scent. The device produces cool mist almost immediately and heated mist in about 30 seconds. There is no temperature control on the device but if it becomes uncomfortably warm you can reduce the temperature by pulling the mask away from your face slightly. Operation is cordless and the device is easy to use, clean and charge. It operates in 15 minute sessions before turning off automatically. A charge seems to last for 3 to 4 sessions.

***DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM!!!***
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this to help with a sinus infection. It worked very well 2-3 times and in the middle of using it, it just stopped working. It has a slight vibration to it while on. And I felt it suddenly stop as if the motor gave out. It no longer heats or produces steam. I am currently trying to find a way to get my money back for it. When I went to initiate a return, I was told it was non-returnable. I am absolutely livid about it!!! I was sold a defective product and now they’re saying I can’t return it!? That is unacceptable. I went with this brand over the more popular Vick’s brand because it was slightly cheaper. BIG mistake! Hopefully I will get this sorted out. But in the meantime I don’t have what I need for relief from sinus pain. I am just sick about it. :( DO NOT BUY!! Wasted myTime and money on this. I hardly ever write reviews. But I am so very upset about this.

A great relief.
When I get a cold, the congestion is bad enough that I run out of breath trying to cough. I have found that warm moist air is the only thing that helps. The Crane EE-5948 Inhaler makes it EASY to stop my cough.I love that it takes regular water instead of cartidges. I user filtered water since our town supply is very hard. I just fill it at our filtered tap and take it with me during the day. It has never leaked, and a single fill is good for about four or five 15 minute sessions.Battery life is great. On a single recharge I can get 3 or 4 sessions of warm mist on the high setting. Which means I can fill it and charge it once a day under most conditions. During the active part of a cold I may need to charge twice a day. When it is not being used, I push the silicone mask back over the body of the unit to make it more compact and speed drying. The mist is comfortably warm. I might like it a bit warmer, but it is warm enough to stop my cough. I don't use it on cool mist, so I can't comment on that.In summary, Crane EE-5948 Inhaler is a great product at a great price. I strongly recommend it.

Very hot
Tank holds enough water to last about 20-25 minutes. One star removed because steam is extremely hot

Worth the price
Bought this item to help provide direct humidity for a family member who has a new tracheostomy. This provides cool or warm mist, is portable, and uses regular tap water, so no need to buy distilled water. The unit is small and handy, as well as sturdy, not a flimsy product. Definitely worth the price!

Not for children
This item gets VERY hot. Must be set on a surface—cannot be hand held.. that said, it makes steam you can breathe in. The face part is quite hard and gets hot except where it can meet the skin which stays a lot cooler.. If you’re looking to use it often splurge on the my pure mist . But if you’re not expecting to have a lot of use this is fine. I had that other brand and didn’t need to use it for several years : went to use it—wouldn’t work. Did I leave water in it? I can’t remember..mpm requires distilled water… the crane sinus inhaler use any plain water… also a plus.. so 3 Stars.. it’s ok but if you plan on a lot of use buy mpm instead. NOT FOR CHILDREN under 16. Gets too hot and basically ties you to sitting in front of a table when using.

A Lifesaver and Relief for the Sinuses!!
This product is very portable & easy to use and helps to unclog your sinuses. We highly recommend it. I bought this for myself as well as my daughter. She and I often get congestion and need something to help with that. She has used it several times now and states it works really well! As for me, the warm steam is nice and relieving. We've been using it for about half a month and there hasn't been any build up since.Overall, this cordless steam inhaler is very effective in what we bought it for and is intended for. What a real relief for the sinuses, and with the cold, dry winter upon us this lifesaver is just what my family needs to help save the day!!

dangerous and defective product
product leaked boiling water on first use. There's no proper seal between the base and the unit. Once the water starts to boil it spills out from the sides and can easily cause a scalding burn. I was lucky the unit was sitting on a countertop and not my son's lap. I also see several reviewers had the same issue.
