Terrible field guide
Terrible field guide. Not in taxonomic order. Really not rhyme or reason for where to find a species. I left the book in the hotel room in Istanbul. No helpful pictures. Wound up using Wikipedia for images of bird species. It was more about birds habitats, behavior etc than showing what a bird looks like. Pictures of some species not included or only one image of bird. Yellow-legged gull vs Caspian gull. No pictures of either. Don't waste your time or money on this book

A good introduction
I bought the book for a 4-year-old, thinking it would provide a good introduction in the years to come. He is so delighted with it that he asks us to tell him the names of the birds while leafing through the book. The pictures are clear and there is enough information to interest a novice bird-watcher.

Fabulous
This is a must buy for all lovers of birds throughout Britain, Europe and Africa, there's loads of excellent descriptions about every bird species. The section on Owls and other birds of prey give detailed descriptions of where to find them. The most fascinating section is on the Turacos as they are only found in the African continent, the variety of these fabulous birds is remarkable as they have a rare pigment that makes their plumage stand out
