Ashwagandha is one of the most powerful herbs in Ayurvedic pharmacopeia . It has been used since ancient times for its rejuvenative properties. It is also known as Winter cherry, Indian ginseng and Withania somnifera. This product is organically grown and processed in accordance with the USDA's National Organic Program (NOP). Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera ), from Sanskrit, translates roughly to “the smell and strength of a horse,” this refers to the plant's inference in Ayurveda to have the ability to enhance sexual vigor. Ashwagandha is a highly regarded in Ayurveda and praised for its adaptogenic and tonic properties. It can be found in Africa, Southeast Asia and the Mediterranean. All parts of the plant are utilized, and the tender leaves are eaten as a gentle nourishing herb. This low growing shrub with hairy branches, oval shaped leaves, yellow to green flowers, and bright red berries is native to India where it grows in the wild, but it is also cultivated throughout the country for larger production needs.
