Simple to use and very cost effective
After spilling a glass of water onto my laptop, it quickly stopped working. I mopped up what I could and let it dry out in a warm place for a few days, with no result. However it was simplicity itself to remove the hard drive from the dead computer and to fit it into the new hard drive enclosure. No screws or fixings, it all clicks in and snaps together. After plugging it into another laptop it was immediately recognised. The only issue was that the old drive was formatted in ext4 which is not recognisable by a Windows computer. The simple answer was to load Puppy Linux onto the Windows computer (Puppy works entirely in RAM) and then copy the files from the old drive to a safe place. And as a bonus I now have a spare 500 GB external USB drive. Win win.

Cost effective, fast delivery, A+
I took a chance on this based off the cheap price and lack of reviews, and was incredibly surprised. Super fast delivery, works perfectly first time. I am stripping my PC and switching to a laptop so I'll be buying three more of these going forwards.

Cheap and works well for £5....but compromised
It's £5 and does what it says on the tin. Cheap and cheerful plastic USB3.0 enclosure for SSDs (may need to use mechanical drives with a powered USB hub).Despite being rated to be USB3.0 with UASP support (which is up to 5Gbit/s or 625 Megabytes/sec) you don't get anywhere near this speed on any SATA3 SSD I put into the enclosure.SATA3 drives from Crucial, Samsung and Gigabyte were tested and they all performed the same in this enclosure - 220Mbytes/sec sequential Writes and 240Mbytes/sec sequential Reads. Plugging the same drives into the same computer but using a Sabrent USB3.1 SATA3 to USB cable returned over 350MB/s Writes and 400MB/s Reads. This isn't a complaint as the enclosure is good value for £5, just more of an awareness that you may not be getting the full throughput of your SATA3 SSD inside this caddy.Works well on a Raspberry Pi4 out of the box too as its UASP compliant (no need for quirks entries).

Decent quality
I've purchased a number of different usb sata enclosures over the years and although this was quite cheap I have been very impressed with the quality and design of it. Very easy to add your drive and it was up and running in minutes!!

great for use with a single ssd
Pros:- it works which is good at this price point;- usb cable included;- supports UASP protocol;- you can get rid of the plastic shell if you plan to use the adapter with multiple SSD-s since the board is not screwed to the board;- LED lights are helpful for extensive read/write operations;Cons:- it's very hard to reopen it only you enclose the ssd; Conclusion:Great if you only have one SSD and don't have to remove it often. If you have multiple and plan to open the enclosure often, there are better options although they may cost a bit more.If the review was helpful please click the button
