Good instructions and fit for my vehicle. I have used K&N for years, quality products and saves money on replacing with normal paper air filters.

Even though i live less than 15 miles from a K&N office, I find that amazon has better shipping rates.This was for a 2002 Explorer, and it fit properly on the first try.Improvements in pickup even with A/C are noticeable; fuel economy always stays above 20MPG even in 118 Degree weather. Pre-K&N i was having issues getting above 18MPG consistently.I highly recommend K&N for EVERY car you own and buy in the future, even new ones! I bought one for my brand new Ford Fiesta, and i can consistently get over 40MPG with it, even though the sticker mpg was 32-35MPG. Fords, particularly, benefit greatly from K&N because the resonator boxes that Ford uses make a really cool sound when they get tons of air through them, which is all the time with these filters. So that sound your car makes at 5000+ RPM? It now gets that at lower speeds/RPMs.It's a hissy, breathing sort of sound, and it smells like savings at the gasoline pump.

I noticed more performance then expected. My Jetta is a TDI and after the software updates I lost a little power. I feel like it is now back to where is was before if not better.

K&N filters DO make a difference in both fuel consumption and air quality. Yes, its a 60$ plus air filter but your will not have to ever buy another if you simply clean this one (every few years, based on typical air conditions) and theres your long term savings. Does give a small growl to the engine at higher RPMs but I didn't buy this filter to make my 6 cyl Ford Explorer go faster, I don't trust paper filters and demand better for the truck I pay for every month and will own until it melts.

Was doubtful about this really making a difference reading some pro and some con reviews, just wanted it as it can be cleaned and reused. In my 04 Aviator, I was very surprised that it made both a performance difference, much peppier throttle response and also added miles to my full tank of gas. I do 80/20 local/highway driving and noticed a positive difference in how many miles I get to a full tank in my situation.

One would buy this filter for two reasons 1) reusable 2) improved performance. I have a well maintained 2004 Ford Explorer V8 engine. I am not sure how reusable this filter will be, but time will tell. Therefore I cannot comment about the reason #1. Hence 2 stars. But this filter has been a failure for the reason #2. With my driving habits and equal mix of highway/city driving, I get 13 miles per gallon in average. I have had zero changes in my engine's performance or gas consumption with this filter after about 1000 miles of driving. I would have been happy with 1-2 mpg that others have experienced. So, I will call this my very expensive air filter. If you are buying this for re-usability, we are in the same boat. If you are buying it for improved performance and gas mileage, I am not sure if you are spending your money wisely. Just my 2 cents.
