Nicely made knife
This is not a Chef Knife - it is patterned on the old style Ontario Old Hickory Butcher Knife. That is pretty clear from the photo, so I knew what I was getting.Ontario makes another knife, the Hop Knife, which is a variation on their Butcher Knife with a flat grind. They're a little hard to find, but I have one. If you put this knife side-by-side with the Ontario Hop Knife, you would be hard-pressed to say which was which. The handle and blade on the Virginia Boys Chef Knife is maybe 1/16 inch longer than the Ontario Hop Knife, but I could dismiss that as manufacturing tolerances. Both knives have walnut handles with two rivet construction. I honestly can't tell if they are made by the same company, just branded differently. That being said, this seems to be a well-made knife. The handle is tight, the grind is even, and it is reasonably sharp out of the box. There are some sharp angles on the handle, and the final grind on the blade could be better. I'm going to need to put some work into this knife, but for $15, it's not bad at all. This is a very nice knife for the money. Just be prepared to put a little work into it to make it your own.

Virginia Boys have changed the description of this knife now calling it a "all purpose" knife, which it is, and a very good one.
Although this is a high quality knife, very sharp, with nice walnut handle, it is not a true chef's knife. A chef's knife has a fatter belly that allows the user to rock the knife while cutting and dicing. I will keep this knife for other purposes, but it is not a chef's knife.

Very cool and very sharp
Very sharp and very cool. I was looking for a rustic kitchen knife and you can't beat this price, especially for a knife of this quality. I love it!

Great knife!
The main reason I bought it is that it was made in America. It's perfect for me!! Came lickety-split!

Great knife! Do not wash in the dishwasher
Great knife! Do not wash in the dishwasher!!! Hand wash and dry immediately and thoroughly after use. Then it won't rust. Coconut oil is recommended to use to season the knife to prevent rust and works well so far
