The Positive Dog: A Story About the Power of Positivity

My Path to Positive
Over the past two years I have been on a journey to find my “Path to Positive.” “The Positive Dog” has stoked the fire for me. Jon’s mastery of story telling using lovable characters has helped me further down my path and I am eager to put ideas from his book to work. This is a great book, easy to read, and full of positive information. Enjoy!

A must read for people who have kids or classrooms in today’s world
I love this book because it promotes positivity and children in a world full with negativity. It is written by John Gordon who goes around and speaks to fortune 500 companies along with NFL teams and does motivational speeches. He brought the energy bus along with several other books. It’s a great quick read for kids chapters are about two pages front and back, and it’s so good that they beg you to keep reading they want to know more and the best part is is that they learn so much about what negativity does to yourself and the people around you and what positivity does for yourself for the people around you! Super awesome book to teach kids about growth mindset and instilling that in their minds while they are young! Although I have a 17-year-old and he read the energy bus and his mindset has completely changed and just a few months so it’s written by the same author and definitely a must read aloud for kids!

great read
I thought this was a great common sense book that was cool to read through the eyes of two dogs that lost their families. Having lost my wife a few years ago, I related to how easy it is to become negative and forget about all the wonderful blessings I have. It definitely helps the thought process to become a more positive person to improve not only your life but also the lives of others

Main Takeaway is to Seek to Understand Those (Us) Like Matt
I love fables. When others complain of how corny they are (take Patrick Lencioni, or Andy Stanley - or Aesop for that matter!), I usually gain immense insight from listening to these fables/short stories. They manage to enter my brain through different doors than the analytical ones, thus massaging my reflective and emotional systems, and I usually end up a couple of days later with never-before-insights top of mind, even though the topic in no way is new to me.I was somewhat disappointed with this one from that perspective. It's more a way fo conveying research, facts and studies (and from a scientific perspective there are many comments to be made, but only for ENTP-people like me, the core message is absolutely correct). In spite of it not fully living up to the experience I was hoping to get, it's definitely worth the time and the money it costs. Read it, put focus on positivity - but I'd say, primarily the greatest take away is this:Negativity, complaining, sadness, isolation are calls for help. It means someone is in pain, living in fear of getting hurt, protecting themselves. It's very diffcult to get out of that hole on their own, as we're all social beings. Thus, when you see it, stay there. Listen, show empathy (ieven if you feel like you're contributing to negativity) that act in itself can actually change someone's life.We all need to help each other give the feeling of acceptance and belonging, and then many of these things positivity, happiness, friendships will fall into place as a by-product.

Great for teens and up!
You'll see this review for all the Jon Gordon books I read. I actually bought "Training Camp" first, because I wanted my daughter (competitive soccer player) to work on her mental game. I read it first to be sure it was appropriate for her age (15). Well, I loved it! I found many helpful things for me. I was getting in a rut at my job and after looking inside myself, it seemed as though I was always angry and frustrated. I reached a point where I decided to change my outlook on everything, and whatever happens externally, happens. After Training Camp, I read the entire Jon Gordon series. They are very easy reading, regardless of age level (teens and up). People might complain that his books are too basic, but if you don't need a PHD to understand something, why write it like you need one? Each book has very simple steps and/or lessons to move you in the right direction. They didn't all work for me, but they all changed my outlook. Great stuff!

Great advice for leading a positive life!
This latest book by Jon Gordon is a another quick, easy read with a message that the reader can take to heart. Through my worksite I was exposed to my first two books by Mr. Gordon- The Energy Bus and The Seed. I learned so much about myself and the part I play in my own happiness and the success of our organization, that I was eager to read on about the role of positivity in our success. Besides the easy read, the main characters in this story are "played" by dogs, the advice is put in language that is easy for most to understand. My favorite part came at the end after the story was over- Jon has included an 11 day plan for becoming more positive beginning with being thankful for what we have. I don't want to give away the rest of the plan, but if you are working towards leading a more positive life, this is a great book to read!

great gift!
Such a great easy read to give to a young person. My nephew is 12, a dog lover and it was the perfect timing to give him this gift of "attitude adjustment". so much negativity bombarding him daily because of social media. This fun but poignant story hit home! We both enjoyed reading and discussing and it was a great bonding time for us.

... ways to become more positive but I was really disappointed with how the author delivered it
I bought this book to try and find ways to become more positive but I was really disappointed with how the author delivered it. Kind of juvenile IMO...
