double-sided sharpener
We are starting to buy the more expensive knives now and we needed a good knife sharpener. So far this one seems to be doing the job pretty good. I like that it's solid, big and easy to manage. It also appears to be a good higher end quality product. My husband really likes the way it's made. Has a good solid wood base. You get a 1,000 and 6,000 grit: The 1000 grit side is used for your basic sharpening and the 6000 grit side is used for fine finishing. Features a rubber tray to ensure stability when sharpening.Read the instructions on the box carefully to ensure the longevity of your sharpening stone.I like that the seller offers a 30-day return and replace and a one-year free warranty. That tells me, they stand behind their product. Instructions are right on the box. Happy with this product

Good sharpenening stone
Good stone. The white polish stone took some of the oxidation from the knife and I cannot get it off. Perhaps my fault as the the particular knife was probably soft. Sharpens very quickly. Easy to use. Just let the porous stone soak for 5 minutes and then sharpen.

Excellent whetstone
Great product. I remember how my dad used to sharpen all of his knives. This stone is perfect for making my blades very sharp. The bamboo base is beautiful, and it does not slip. The guide teaches you exactly what angle to use when sharpening. Soak the stone in water until you stop seeing bubbles. Remember to use an old towel, as the sludge will stain. Having two different grits in the same stone is very convenient. The size of the stone also makes it easier to sharpen knives of all sizes.

You need to know what you are doing.
The product is good quality but it real takes some talent to know how to use these stones. Ended up buying a electric knife sharpener which wasn't cheap but did the trick. Unless you have used sharping stones in the past with success I would be careful.

Saved time and money.
I really wanted to avoid taking my kitchen knives to get sharpened. I decided to try it myself. Watching some YouTube videos, this product worked great. Saved time and money.

I don't recommend it.
I've had this for years and only dulls my knives. I've followed procdures correctly on multiple knives and it is a complete waste of time and money. Just get a normal knife sharpener. Those will sharpen any knife in seconds in a matter of a couple swipes. With this knife sharpening block, you'll spend minutes dulling your knives. I've brought it to my restuarant and they don't want it either. I've tried using in bbq's and it was a joke. Instead, we used a flat paver stone in the yard and it sharpened my knife in seconds.

Keeps knives sharp
This is a very fine grit stone that gives a great sharp edge to knives. The wooden base keeps the stone in place during sharpening in either direction. The included blade holder maintains the correct blade to stone angle, but is only useful for blades longer than 6". For very dull blades, a coarser grit is helpful to start the sharpening process.

Works fine but probably not for a long time as it is a little soft.
I ordered this as I wanted a finer grit stone to use on some smaller knives and especially my kitchen knives. The wooden block and rubber retainer work well. The little plastic angle guide was pretty useless to me but others may appreciate it. The stone itself is pretty soft and you can see it as a build up of white or blue powder after use so care will need to be taken not to wear a valley in the center of the stone. It works just like you would expect however and I got my knives very sharp, even the crappy stainless paring knife my wife loves... Good product for the price.
