Q: Does this belly maternity band make your belly look smaller?

I've been wearing mine since the second trimester and it doesn't restrict the belly and it makes it look more firm and hides my belly button from poking out alittle too

Q: How do you determine what size you need?

Order your pre pregnancy typical size. So I typically wore size small or medium shirt. I ordered a small and it fits perfect. Not to tight but holds the belly still. Pre pregnancy I was 5'2, 118-120lbs, size 3 pants

Q: Are these thick enough so buttons and fold dont show through?

It hides it pretty well for me. I'm past the point of being able to button my pants and these allow me to still wear my favorite pants. I love the material of these, they are very comfortable.

Q: Has anyone tried these for medical reasons (not pregnancy)? i’m wondering if i should size down since i am not pregnant. i need them after surgery.

You might do better with the postpartum style belly bands over the maternity ones? These are pretty stretchy.
