This has transformed my learning at med school
Could not agree less with the previous 1-star review. This textbook is an absolute godsend, recommended to me by a Canadian F1. YES it is black and white and bullet-points. YES it is US/Canada-centric. But, in complete contrast to the other UK waffley medical textbooks I have used (K&C, Davidson's, OHCM) it just gets to the damn point! When I am struggling to remember what to do in a situation the memory of the bulletpoints and nmenomics and simple tables bring it all back. You don't get lost in endless paragraphs or psychobabble drivel (OHCM, I'm looking at you..) And, in contrast with other textbooks, this one has a magical ability to predict the questions you will inevitably have about a topic and just give you the facts. I don't feel the need to make notes from this textbook (what a horrendous waste of time!). Just attending the relevant teaching/clinics/wards for learning, going over this textbook for revision and to unpick any conceptual problems you have, and using an online question bank later on, has proven to be much more efficient and effective and enjoyable because I actually understand what is going on in rounds! You will inevitably want to annotate the textbook where UK practice differs considerably (e.g. screening programmes, less imaging generally, some drug names) but this is not extensive, and I find the international perspective interesting and actually useful, and this all encourages an "active reading" approach anyway. I also annotate the book extensively as I go with the clinical pearls I pick up, so the book is now basically my own. The book also includes a very good handbook to take into the hospital, and a separate collection of STAT notes grouped by common presentation.

Probably the best book to become up to date furiously fast, tones of pertinent information in a practical form. The indexing allows to find everything you are looking for. Thanks to the Editors who did such a generous work .
