Didn't work
Did not work with my Mac Mini. After plugging into USB-C port, it would start to run, I would insert an audio CD, it would pull up the menu and ask if I wanted to download it. I would click yes, it would show the first track downloading, but would stop spinning the CD, after a minute or two, it would give me an error message saying the download could not be completed. Then the whole unit would vanish from the list of devices, as if the power was off. I tried several times, even tried re-booting my system as recommended by the manufacturer, but nothing changed. Even tried just playing the CD, that did not work either. Unlike other's experience, I was able to get my CD to eject, after unplugging, then plugging back into the port and essentially re-activating the power. Returned this unit and ordered an Asus, which worked from the first plug-in with no issues, confirming the problem was this unit, not my system. Do not waste your money on this one, spend the extra $5-10 on a name brand unit.

Works well and plays well
Works well and plays well. I missed grabbing a CD or DVD and enjoying a recording. I purchased this player because it came with a USB-C connector. The connection was flawless and required no set up. The price point was perfect and the design is very clean matches the satin finish of my Mac.

When it happens, don't panic
The important thing to remember here is that despite the lack of exterior screws, it IS possible to pry the unit apart when your CD gets hopelessly stuck in it, which will happen after about 3-4 months of occasional use. (It might even be possible to pry it apart without completely destroying the unit, though I wasn't successful in that regard.) You have to insert a strong-but-thin metal tool, like a heavy butter knife or scraper, between the plastic base and the faux-aluminum shell, and pry the shell off completely. After that there's no need to tear up the metal drive itself; there are three screws holding the top on, but for some reason they're hidden under an adhesive plastic cover sheet. You don't need the cover sheet, so once you've torn that off, remove the screws with the teensy-tiniest Philip's head screwdriver you can lay your hands on, and then just gently pull the top off. The disc should be easy to remove, since at that point it's only being held in with a couple of plastic tabs on the inside.Anyway, I get it - it looks like an Apple Superdrive but at 1/4th the price. And even if you bought the actual Superdrive, the same thing could easily happen (though it might take a few more months). So yeah, obviously tray-loading designs are vastly superior if you care about your CDs and don't want to risk breaking them, as you might in your effort to get them out of one of these slot-loading drives. But the slot-loaders obviously look better, and that matters in some cases. I'm just saying that you don't have to kiss your CDs goodbye when they get stuck - you CAN get them out without damaging them if you're careful and have the right tools.

Does the job, good price
The media could not be loaded. I saw that my review was requested and I found that super creepy and funny bc I literally just started using it today. I didn't forget that it existed but I could not get the motivation to start watching my show again, Terminator bc it takes more work I guess to get everything all set up rather than going on to a streaming service or YouTube. When u first get it up and ready there's something saying u can pay to update and u just exit, it's useless lol. Took me a few mins to figure out where everything is bc I need subtitles and u want to make sure the volume is all the way up. But I pretty much love it. It's a little confusing when u first put the disc in. U search in files and there seem like 20 options (all disc icon I think). I was trying to restart Season 2 or restart halfway in season 2 I guess since I remember most of it but I didn't want to be clueless and start where I was months ago before they took it off prime or whatever. It doesn't work perfectly but it does the job and I greatly appreciate it. And it's not super expensive. There seem to be so many extra buttons that don't do anything for whatever reason or they're just useless for me in particular. Maybe it's meant to be compatible with other types of laptops and features and systems, but they're not nuisances, I just ignore almost everything. I like it. I will almost never give 4-5 stars tho, nothing is perfect, that's not possible
