Taking the reins of power from the great actress Margo Channing (Bette Davis), the cunning Eve (Anne Baxter) manoeuvres her way into Margo’s Broadway role, becomes a sensation and even causes turmoil in the lives of Margo’s director boyfriend, her playwright and his wife. Only the cynical drama critic (George Sanders) sees through Eve, admiring her audacity and perfect pattern of deceit. Marilyn Monroe co-stars in this acclaimed classic, which won six Academy Awards and received the most nominations (14) in film history.

Davis at her Very Best
It's Bette Davis and in my opinion she never made a bad movie. This is by far her best. Lots of excellent one-liners delivered with her usual venom. Superb supporting cast. Anne Baxter plays Eve and is superb as all the cast including George Sanders. He doesn't have a lot of scenes but steals the ones he's in. Also a cameo for a young Marilyn Monroe. This film has it all and I never tire of watching it. Love it.

Classy print of a classy film.
All About Eve is one of the finest Hollywood movies which takes a harshly realistic view of the theatre business. This multi Oscar winning film has finally received the hi def transfer it deserves. The detail is impressive and the image crystal clear. Fasten your seat-belts when you view this one - it may be a bumpy night for the film's characters but it will be a very smooth ride indeed for viewers.Bette Davis has rarely given a better performance in a movie which revived her fading career. I cannot endorse this blu-ray more strongly. The extras are first rate too. Please note it's presented in its original aspect ratio: 1.37:1 - so don't expect either colour or wide-screen.VideoCodec: MPEG-4 AVCResolution: 1080pAspect ratio: 1.37:1Original aspect ratio: 1.37:1AudioEnglish: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1English: Dolby Digital MonoSpanish: Dolby Digital 5.1French: DTS 5.1 ...Note: Latin & Castillian Spanis...English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1English: Dolby Digital MonoSpanish: Dolby Digital 5.1French: DTS 5.1Portuguese: Dolby Digital 5.1German: DTS 5.1Italian: DTS 5.1Russian: Dolby Digital 5.1Spanish: DTS 5.1Thai: Dolby Digital 2.0Japanese: DTS 5.1Note: Latin & Castillian SpanishSubtitlesEnglish SDH, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, German, Italian, Cantonese, Danish, Dutch...etcEnglish SDH, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, German, Italian, Cantonese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Hebrew, Icelandic, Korean, Mandarin (Traditional), Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Swedish, ThaiDiscs50GB Blu-ray DiscSingle disc (1 BD)PlaybackRegion free

AN ABSOLUTE "MUST HAVE" MOVIE!
It's inconceivable that anyone else other than Bette Davis could possibly have taken the rôle of Margo Channing in ALL ABOUT EVE! The fact that she did not win the Best Actress Oscar, was a huge miscarriage of artistic justice. The film is worthy of all 14 nominations & eventual 6 wins. There are other more lengthy & detailed reviews with 5 stars, but I just like to put a few personal comments down. The cast is excellent, the young Marilyn Monroe given her first important part. The brilliant witty & intelligent script giving Bette Davis one of the most iconic phrases in all cinema! Oscar-winning costume designer Edith Head created gowns for Davis, that the star apparently coveted like no others she had ever worn! This is a wonderful DVD & I'm thrilled to have this film in my collection.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.Delivered in 3 days!Excellent value-for-money.

Biting Wit
This old Bette Davis black and white is a real treat for people who like great dialogue and a good yarn. Perhaps one of Bette Davis's best performances. Good performances all round, in fact. A sort of skewed fairy tale, rags to riches with a twist. A funny sort of star is born. Two hours long, always engaging, and a deserved winner of a Best Picture Oscar.

CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD MELODRAMA
Eve, of the title role, played by Anne Baxter, is a timid star struck young woman, who manages to go back stage at a theatre, and meet her idol Margo Channing, played by Bette Davis. After being introduced, they become friends, and Eve goes to work for Margo as her personal assistant, but Eve has her own aspirations. For anyone who likes Hollywood films from the 50's, especially in Black and White, then you may enjoy this. The acting is superb all round, and Marilyn Monroe has a small part.Picture Quality is very good, with no scratches or blemishes. This blu ray release, has been transferred in it's original aspect ratio of 1.37:1. Sound is in the original mono.Final word, Amazon has this listed with an aspect ratio of 16:9 - 1.78:1. You know the story, but it's never been better told."Slow curtain, the end.""Don't give it another thought - after all you didn't personally drain the petrol tank yourself."

A perfect film
A perfect masterpiece and an epitome of perfect storytelling based on superlative balance of script, direction and acting .After so many decades it still looks and sounds totally contemporary and up to date, like it was made yesterday. All about Eve is a enlightening story about the women, society and success, structured on a diabolic plot where every piece is on the right place at the right time, but still it does not look like just a measured, arbitrary and artificially cold story. They are types, but also true characters, so you can identify with them or refuse them, but you can't ignore their reasons, motifs and feelings.Blu ray is pretty remarkable both in the hd transfer and in the extra

A "Sunset Boulevard" of theatre
The film on the flipside of the fame in theatrical world teems with brisk, clever dialogues and boasts a very, very good cast. It' s led by Bette Davis in arguably her greatest role as the slightly old-growing diva. Anne Baxter turns in a star-making performance as the ambitious, talented (in more ways than one) Eva, George Sanders shines as a cynical, world-weary critic who unmistakeably sees through Eva 's pattern. Also bringing Marilyn Monroe in a small role, this movie gets it all just right.
