Lenny Kravitz Hardcover – September 16, 2014

Thanks to my daughter finding a perfect condition edition of the book I’ve been looking for for SO LONG now! Such a fantastic coffee table book. May need a much better coffee table now!!!

I arrived home late last evening from yet another business trip to a huge amazon.com box filled with this surprise...an incredible gift after a very long week. My immediate experience: beauty, elegance, exquisiteness. While holding and seeing the cover photo, the texture of the book contributed to a sense that I was feeling the earth that Mr. Kravitz is walking on in the cover photo.My reflections as I devoured this book:Lenny Kravitz and I are the same age give or take a few years, I've followed his career simply because he's a peer in the age sense (smile). I'm fascinated and drawn to his life, in part, because although we're contemporaries - our lives are so very different. The researcher side of me is ever drawn towards lived experiences - how we construct our life and being out of opportunities and life happenings. It's been fun to watch his life in the media particularly his music and design work. That Mr. Kravitz is a handsome man is like a duh?! statement. And yet, he is. Couple this with his impulse to create music and beautiful designed spaces and I find myself wondering if his beauty is a gift fueling his need and capacity to create. Arts, beauty, and aesthetics stimulate our deep recognition of our humanness elevating us individually and collectively beyond the muck and mire of incivility, hate, and destruction. Is Mr. Kravitz deep sense of this driving his impulse to create? Or does the man simply love beauty, design and excellence? I like the flow of the photos telling the story of Lenny Kravitz, illuminating various aspects of the man - so textured, graceful, and yet gritty simultaneously.One aspect of his being that drives me crazy is Mr. Kravitz persistent wearing of sun glasses (said as though anyone cares, LOL). Throughout the photos we see many examples of this. But then there are the photos without any sun glasses. I paused at each one soaking in his face and expression. I have a creative friend who describes a world without sunglasses as too much, too much input/output. He feels as though people can see his soul in a way where sunglasses give him a buffer and opportunity to selectively reveal himself. I wonder why Mr. Kravitz wears sun glasses. or maybe I analyze too much (smile)?! LOL This book affords the viewer an opportunity to see many sides of the man!Another aspect of this book that draws me in is Mathieu Bitton's role in Art Direction and Design. With one of his photos on Facebook I can be transported to another place. He captures the essence of a space, creates a mood, and fosters desire - as in, I want to be in the space to witness first hand the beauty, grittiness, and elegance of what he's capturing. Mathieu Bitton: Photographer, art direction and design....wow!A beautiful, thoughtful, book. A good pick for those interested in Lenny Kravitz, art and design, photography, or Mathieu Bitton.

There is some brief nudity (so not necessarily for kids) but great for lovers and fans of music and awesome photography! Go get it now!

"Lenny Kravitz" is a beautiful coffee table book which chronicles his 25 year career. While some photographs may be more familiar than others, it is a great book which includes many images from the early days Lenny's career. Whether Lenny is wearing his trademark sunglasses or not, every frame is stunning. Some photos might be considered a little risqué, but they are graceful and artfully produced. In between the photographs, there are also interviews to provide background and context of Lenny's career. These interviews are not to be missed.At 50, Lenny looks breathtakingly handsome. As the cover of the book can attest, one look at him should make you want to run, not walk, to the gym. More importantly though, Lenny's spiritual, artistic, and emotional heights are places to which we can all aspire. Here's to the next 25 years of Lenny Kravitz: musician, designer, actor, artist and citizen of the world.

My sister can't get enough of Lenny Kravitz. She was so excited to receive this for her birthday. Did not disappoint.

If you are a Lenny Kravits fan then you will like this book" There are some great images inside it's a beautifull book of a great Artist, the snake skin affect on the back and front cover with Lenny's picture framed by it on the front cover finishes it off beautifully.

This is a big and heavy book!It's totally FULL of countless photos of Lenny Kravitz on-stage and at home and in various inside and outside locations.There are a few interviews but it's a mainly visual delight with some beautiful surprises!
