Stc 1000 not the 1550 Good external controller easy to fit. No more relying on internal heater stat finer control just set your heater stat a degree higher the than the external controller and your good to go.

This is a nice unit. However, anyone thinking of purchasing this as a heating/cooling controller for a marine aquarium please be careful. Elitech promote this new unit as an Upgraded STC-1000 model. True in a way. However, you can only programme this version to have a -0.5 degree or +0.5 temperature differential before either heating or cooling kicks in. The STC-1000 allows for -0.3 / +0.3. Therefore you will not get the same stability in aquarium temperature with this unit. Now I have purchased the ATC-1550 I have installed it. However, I'll be keeping my eye on temperature stability and may have to revert back to an STC-1000. It's a shame as this is a better unit and comes boxed in with both heating and cooling UK plugs.

I could not get this item to work, after trying for at least an hour last Sunday. The poorly written instructions definitely didn't help. So I emailed the manufacturers asking for step by step instructions on how to use it to run a freezer as a fridge. They replied on Monday 15 March, saying they would look into it and get back to me. I am writing this on Friday 19 March after not hearing another word.If the company can't even explain how their own item works (or blow off customers seeking help), how can anyone have any faith in their products?Amazon were great and refunded instantly, even though I had actually purchased the item 9 months ago.
