The Plot Thickens
*This review contains minor spoilers forĀ D. Gray-Man, Vol. 17: Parting Ways (D.Gray-Man) *Though it was already hinted at being the next major event in the previous volume, the "Zombie Saga" doesn't really have any place even occurring. The main idea readers will leave with after finishing "The Destructive Affair of the Dark Order" segment is that Komui will never forget the memories he had at the old Dark Order Headquarters as they move to the next one. However, that sentiment could have been expressed in a much briefer manner to leave room for more relevant events to occur. However, that continuation of Vol.16 only comprises about one-third of the manga. As for the rest, the story becomes more interesting as more revelations are made, particularly concerning Allen Walker and his new role now that he has the power of the Pianist. Cross also manages, as always, to act in a way that will keep you guessing as to his motives with his cryptic message to Allen and sudden re-disappearance. Unfortunately, the story thus far comes to an end as the move is completed and an oddity arises concerning the egg.Despite the needless beginning, which I found myself begging to end, the conclusion really left me yearning the next volume. I would not recommend skipping over this chapter in the D.Gray-Man series.
