I Love The Old Movies
January 23rd, 2014 12:27amI like the old movies because there are no foul, swearing language in !!!!I like how Good is the outcome over the bad guys in the long run even though some bad has happened to the innocent, they did come out on top!!!!! Since I have 3 different tribes in my ancestry, I Like to See how the Indians helped the New comers to this Land!!!!! But it really bothers me how so much was taken from them, by these new comers!!!!! I REALLY LIKED THIS PICTURE, BECAUSE THE GOOD CAME OUT ON TOP!!!! Polar2[Eya-Andrea]

Defective DVDs
On the first set of Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans, Disc #1 would not even load. I tried it on two Blu Ray players and a DVD player. I reported this and was promptly sent a replacement set. On the second set, the DVDs would play, but on disc 1 and disc 2, several of the episodes would "hang up" and the episode would not play any further. Was given a refund for the set.

These are really good stories but the only one on Instant Video. It's a 5 volume series. Worth watching ifyou like frontier stories.

Classic TV Time-Capsule
The introductory sequence to this show was one of the most memorable and dynamic of its day. "From the immortal pen of James Fenimore Cooper.... the thrilling adventures of Hawkeye and, his blood-brother Chingachkook " This series was the first U.S., Canadian co-production and, with outdoor location filming in forests, snow and mountains it has a very different atmosphere from the mass-produced Warner Bros.studio westerns of the '50s and '60s. This is a family show and most of the stunts are pretty weak but as the series develops the techniques and stories become better especially if you put yourself in a certain frame of mind.. There is an honest attempt to depict history in the stories. Sometimes the colonists are the villains and the 'Indians' the good guys. There is an interesting story about businessmen working together with renegade indians to fleece and murder colonists, their possessions and trekking kit being recycled and sold again to the next party of incoming colonists. Included in the set is the alternate introduction sequence produced to accompany the USAmerican release. It is very interesting to see what changes were considered necessary for the Stateside viewers. For example the word 'settlers' is substituted for 'colonists' and the 'blood-brother' title given to Chingachkook by the Canadians is dropped for the US market. Lon Chaney Jnr. looks great as Chingachkook.

Loved the tomahawk thunking into the tree...
One of my favourites as a kid in the 1950s. I live in Canada and the show looked like my country outside my door and that was cool and different at the time..
