I use garlic along with my other supplements for a variety of health benefits. I prefer actual minced garlic because there is not substitute for real foods. The biggest and most obvious problem with real garlic is the odor, especially if I’m commuting for the day or around a lot of people. I was contemplating purchasing garlic capsules when I was offered these to try. So far, I have no complaints with these capsules. They’re made from organic bulb garlic and are labled vegan safe. The only other listed ingredients are organic potato starch and cellulose (for the capsules). Two capsules provides 500mg of garlic. The aroma of garlic is strongest when I open the container but the aroma of the actual capsules is very faint. Even when the container is open it smells more like an open bottle of spices rather than the strong aroma of regular raw garlic. I haven’t noticed any aftertaste when taken nor have I experienced any issues or reactions with these garlic capsules. The only potential negatives I’ve found both involve manufacturing. I couldn’t find the country of manufacture anywhere on the bottle although it does say it was manufactured for Rejuvenation Therapeutics. I like to know where anything I ingest originated. Also, the bottle I just recently received has a manufacture date of May 2017 stamped on the bottom. So, it apparently has sat for nearly a year. It makes me wonder if newer bottles may have a stronger aroma of garlic or aftertaste or even if these still have full potency. I haven’t noticed any changes in my overall health and my cholesterol, blood glucose and blood pressure remain excellent. However, a year is quite a while to sit on a shelf.

I take a lot of supplements and I definitely need supplements for heart/cardiovascular health. I cannot say how well these work to that degree. Likely as well as any other garlic supplement. What I can say is this... These supplements smell like garlic. As soon as I put the two capsules in my mouth (the serving is 2 per day) I tasted garlic very strongly. Then I tasted garlic for hours and my husband asked me if I ate garlic bread so apparently my breath smelled like garlic too. Maybe it just affected me oddly because I have a sensitive stomach and sensitive taste buds but as I write this I can still taste the garlic and it's been hours. If you don't like the taste of garlic you definitely don't want to get these. On the other hand, if you love garlic and would love to taste it all day these would be great.

I'll start with the fact that I like the vegan ingredient list. I also taste garlic when I take the pills, but I get no reflux from it. I don't feel that I smell like garlic from taking this either. However, I don't know if garlic pills provide any measurable health benefits. I had also heard garlic can be good as an anti-viral, which may also be weakly supported. I did a quick search and found a particularly interesting article. It seems garlic supplements can provide some heart health and cholesterol lowering benefits, but may also interfere with heart medications. Sounds counterproductive to me. I'm left scratching my head after reading the article. To me that's not a clear sign of any real benefit. I'm on the fence about garlic in a bottle.

A time honored supplement, garlic is great for your heart and reduces high blood pressure, fights bacterial infections, boosts immune system, balances blood sugar, assists in fat metabolism and helps prevent cholesterol oxidation and plaque buildup in arteries. A good quality garlic supplement should be organic, as this one is. It should also cause little garlic smell. This supplement meets both of those criteria. Some people eat whole garlic cloves, but I prefer to take a supplement that gives me all the benefits but none of the clear the room garlic smell.
