Not bad!
This is a good player for its ability to play almost all formats that I need, and connect to my external hard drive. Like the other reviews said, it's definitely not a really FAST player, but I'm okay with the speed that it's performing.By the way it is much easier to use the remote control than the buttons on the machine, and note that this machine plays all region for DVD, but not the Blu-Ray. I double-checked it on the manufacture's website before I bought it, and it said the default setting is Region A, but I guess i should be happy that I can change the firmware if I want to play Blu-rays from another region/country! Blu-Ray player works great. Karaoke player takes forever to sync up when first turned on. For the money i's OK.

GOOD PLAYER
If you are new to Blu-Ray player, you will wonder if this bdk-2000 is worthwhile. The answer is clearly YES, it is pretty easy to set up. All you need to do is plug in the external hard drive in the usb port. It's stable, quiet and smart. The only problem i got is when you have many movies, you need to press page up/down many times to locate the one you want to watch.

Poor video and audio quality
I mainly bought the Acesonic BDK-2000 for the Blu Ray player and the built in media player . As a Blu Ray player , the BDK2000 is terrible . About thirty seconds after it powers up , a fine white snow is visible in the picture . This is most notable on the dark player menu and any dark scenes in movies . The audio also has problems . The player produces an audio crackle every few minutes no matter what you are doing/watching , it even happens when the player sits powered on but idle . I tried changing HDMI cables and player settings but nothing helped . Firmware is the latest .As a media player it is functional but buggy . The user interface is easy to use . It boasts a plethora of compatible formats and when tested , did play everything that I threw at it from a pocket HDD . It did randomly refuse to play some files for no apparent reason . I had to return to the main menu to reboot the media player after almost every video that I successfully played so it's a slow process to surf any number of files .Considering the horrid audio and video , I have absolutely no desire to try out the karaoke function so I can't comment about that .I did contact the manufacturer's service dept. and open a ticket but they have not responded . Another strike against this player . I would not recommend the BDK-2000 . It's over priced , buggy , and mine is being returned .

A very versatile player
Acesonic is a california company that deals soley with karaoke itemsThis product functiones as stated and no problems were presented withthe shipping. In detail the player had no problems playing cd-g format filesand sample dvd movies, upconverted at 1080p. Also this player supports two usb cennectionsfor added harddrive space which is a plus. The only thing that is a draw back is the fact;most universal remotes wont be able to program the bdk-2000 to controll most of its functiones wirelessly. overall this is a great blu-ray/karaoke player

All in one Perfection
The BDK-2000 is the best system to have.. all in one, easy to install.the fact that it has different formats to play back lets me just have 1 Entertainment system in my house. It supports my External Hardrive makes it a bonus.

BDK-2000
I received this from Ace Karaoke yesterday and have non stop working with it.It has the latest firmware 124369 preloaded.First:the package included 50 so called "random" Chartbuster CDG disks. Random means all country. These disks are useless to me not being a country fan. They also have the first 6 songs with voice the second 6 without. This means you really only get half of the songs to sing with. When I called Acekaraoke they said that's all they have it was a closeout of Chartbuster and all they had was country. The Lady I spoke with gave me no options for exchange....urrrg!Second:The wireless Acesonic VHF microphone sound very high pitched and is almost useless. I have turned to bass up and the treble down to try and correct through my best home karaoke system I have and it is almost useless. You may want to pick the corded mic option on this package. The BDK-2000:I was very excited about this product seeing that it will handle almost any format possible. So far I have played VCD, MP3, DVD pefectly. I also formated an external Seagate hard drive and loaded about 600 MP3+CDG files and 200 MPG files from my computer collection. It shows up as a directory of file names so you can go down through the list and chose the song you want. The file names show as correct file names. It is not as slow as others have stated. Perhaps when I have my 14000 karaoke songs it will be. There is no search function so you may want to create diferent directories by artist or by alphabet. The sound / video of the player was very good with the HDMI cable. I simultaneously ran my red / white RCAs to my receiver and the sound is good and matches perfectly. The 1080p signal appears fine with the HDMI.NOW THE BAD:1) The karaoke functions sound terrible - even with my standard corded mics the echo/reverb is awful!!! You cannot turn it off completely and I notice that the voice overdrives the processor causing a delay in the voice and distortion. You feel like you can't keep up with the songs as your voice lags behind about a 1/2 second and sounds more like an echo to what you are actually singing. When you turn up the echo it becomes worse. I did notice that if you back way away from the mic it is not as bad but still sounds terrible and does not "blend well" with the music. It makes little difference if the mic is turned up or down. If you back away from the mic about 8-10 inches and turn down the mic volume to about 1/3 volume it is not as bad BUT you cannot hear yourself with the music. I am hoping a software upgrade in the future can adress this "overdriving issue"If I keep this unit because of all the formats it will play and the external hard drive options... I will have to have a second unit sitting above it that can mix my mics with a good sounding reverb/echo... a second mixer!2) CDG disks - When the disk is inserted it will NOT show the disk info or main directory showing the title and songs listed so you can pick your song. They DON'T have an auto look-up function so you cannot see what songs are on the disk. It only states "track 1, track 2" and so on. The manufacturer needs to have a freedb.freedb.org lookup on the CDG disk when it's inserted.Several CDG disks would show up as music only and when playing the song only music would show. In otherwords... it would not recognize and play the CDG file.3) Recording: It recorded to the USB drive ok but upon playback it was faster than normal.Summary:I would not reccomend this as a viable karaoke option. If you want this unit because of the external hard drive options and the multi format reader it may be ok for an "all in one" DVD player for your house. I have not tried any of the Blueray functions.I may return this is I knew of a similar option for a karaoke mixer player with hard drive capabilities. I would appreceiate suggestions.Thanks...and good luck to you!!

Great for Home Karaoke Practice
I got his player to replace the Blue Ray player in my hi fi system, so I could practice karaoke songs at home. I have my own collection of CD-G disks. I use the player along with a mixer and a high quality mike. This is a great karaoke machine and a great CD, DVD, and Blue Ray player. I strongly recommend it.
