New update
I bought one of these last season to use with my missing system and it worked great. A few weeks ago I purchased a new one for this season. After hooking it up I attempted to run water through it for two minutes like they request. Nothing would flow through. For some reason it was completely clogged. Nothing I did freed up the water stream. I've since returned it for a replacement and we'll see how the replacement one works. I suspect this part one was an "old" one. I'll update this review after the replacement arrives.New replacement arrived today and it works perfectly. No idea what was initially wrong, but this one is exactly what I wanted and expected. I may have just received an "old" one initially. Yes, I would recommend this product.

Calcium removal for Pool and Ice Maker
I recently bought one filter (Orbit 10109W for Mist Calcium inhibitor) and I am exceptionally pleased with the outcome. I had to have work done on my pool and had to refill it with approximately 10,000 gallons. I found (Tucson water high in Calcium load) that the filter did exactly what I had hoped for. The calcium load was already reduced by my Pelican filtration system from 600ppm to 200ppm and it also lowered the TDS from 1800ppm to 600ppm which is also great.Because of this dramatic change for the better I added the same filter to my secondary ice maker (Uline) which should decrease the cleaning from every 6 months to 12 months. In addition, since I need to clean the external pool 4 cartridige tank at least 3 to 4 times a year using the old system but now will add another filter to the standard hose system to also decrease any additional Calcium being added when refilling the external pool cartridge tank. This may seem to be over indulgent but at this price it ultimately makes my life better since I have less concern of calcium issues with the management of the entire pool.Great product. I learned about this filter by exploring Amazon. Deelivery was fast and the placement of the filter for the outside hose was very simple. For the house secondary ice maker I had to get a buch of parts to adapt to a my valve and with help from Ace hardware I spent about $70 to adapt this filter into my inline water system for the ice maker. Easy to do and based on water usage for the ice maker I will not need to change this filter more than once a year.

Works great to reduce calcium when refilling my pool!
We have very hard water here in Arizona and it’s not so nice to swim in (it also results in mineral buildup around the pool). I performed a drain and refill recently and thought I’d put one of these on the end of the hose when I refill the pool with the hope that it would reduce the calcium levels. After doing so, I had the calcium levels checked and they are about half what they’d normally be.Given the high flow rate of this filter, I wasn’t sure what to expect but am very pleased with the result.I know this is an unconventional use for this filter, but wanted to share as it might help others who have the same issue with hard water in their pools.Oh, this filter traps sediment, too. It captured quite a bit of it. Overall, I put 5000 gallons through a single filter. Not sure how much life it has left after that as is it isn’t rated by # of gallons.

Multi use
I’ve used these for my outdoor mister system for years and it really helps in keeping those pesky nozzles from clogging up.Seeing the improvements there I installed one on my auto-fill pool line. I live in an area with high hardness and calcium levels. The minerals tend to attach to the tiles and are a real pain to remove.. these little guys do a great job at removing the calcium before it hits the pool. I change the filter about every three months. I use a union on one side so it’s about a five minute job to swap in a new one. They use a hose fitting, so you need to find an adapter to connect to the pvc pipe. Love them!

Calcium Inhibitor Filter Size Information
After countless tries with different filters, this one works for me.Both the female screw on connectors are standard Garden hose connections. Any other one I found online the female connector would not fit any thread I tried and leaked. I tried every garden hose connector I had and this product gave a successful watertight connection. I did have the need to get to 3/4" pipe connector. Just a trip to local hardware store to get a 3/4 garden hose to 3/4 standard pipe connector.

Hard to tell if this is actually doing anything
Even after installing this and following the instructions, I still see a lot of calcium buildup on my misting line. Maybe it's making it slightly less bad? I don't know for sure.

Screw in line with the garden hose, easy!
I have two misting outdoor fans and I wanted the nozzles to work for a long time before needing cleaning or replacing due to hard water. I live in California so a lot of our tap water is hard. This screwed in line with the garden hose I have feeding into two misting pumps, which go up to about 12 nozzles (6 per fan). Super easy to add. I followed the instructions and let it run for 2 minutes to clear out anything before I attached it to the pump intake hose. It's a great way to prolong your misting system and keep it at the top performance. Last thing you want is on the hottest day for your system to clog up.

Great filter
I have bought these orbit filters a few times over the years. They do a great job keeping my misters free of debris and calcium buildup. They have lasted more then a year a times just depends on your water quality in your area. But they are cheap enough not to break the bank to replace them yearly. The hose threads are a prefect fit. You can use these on any thing from swamp coolers to gradens drip systems or misters, endless options.
