This was my 3rd try at getting a decent gravel washer, and 3rd time really was the charm. This unit has very good construction, is very sturdy even at full length, and has really strong suction. It has a lot of accessories for the business end-some are better than others, but more choices are good. Definitely worth the money!

The instructions are vague and incomplete - they do tell you how to assemble the pump, sort of, but have varying indications of what the attachments are to be used for and no directions as to how to actually use the product to clean the tank. The duckbill scraper is useless. The brush works like you would expect a brush to work, but the recirculating mode just recirculates dirty water into the tank. The filter mesh bag doesn't actually trap the debris. And due to the design of the pump, you have to repeatedly twist the recirculating attachment to avoid pumping water out of the tank. And when you get the attachments near the bottom of the tank you submerge the outlet of the recirculator. I tried to use the gravel vacuum but the suction is far too strong so it just sucks up gravel to clog the filter, and just recirculates the dirty water anyway. Using the tank drain hose instead of the recirculator drains the tank far too quickly - the tank would be empty long before you could clean all the gravel. It's also built poorly - when I tried to pull the recirculator tube out of the top of the pump, which is a friction fit instead of a threaded connection, the pump housing came apart, as it just snaps together. Used it once and am returning.

Products is made of thin cheap plastics but it works pretty well and easy to assembled. The vacuum is strong. I was able to vacuum sand into an empty bucket. I have bought a similar cheap products that will not vacuum water because the outlet is at the top of the handle which made it impossible to vacuum the sand. Those cheap item also does not have good vacuum power to pull out the waste in substrate. This product only need the motor in the water which will work with most aquarium tank. Not sure on long term use but so far it works pretty well.

The external water pipe is a very cheap thin flimsy plastic that's going to needed replacement sooner then later, not a very durable thing. The extension handles are thin rigid plastic and seem ok but they too will be prone to breakage easily, the plastic is just too thin and rigid for long term durability. The attachments are fine.Assembly is easy. Its easy to use. I've rated it three stars on each of these points though because it could be better. The handle could be more collapsible, maybe three sections instead of two, for easy storage in the box it comes in as an assembly instead of having to take it apart to get into the box, I like to store this type of thing together with its attachments. Its use is easy, but having to put it back together each time to use sort of degrades the usability factor a little.But overall, has good suction and It works. Overall I've rated it three stars for the materials in the external water pipe and extension handles, and for the need to take the handles apart to store in the box and the need to reassemble the handles for each use.

To begin, I was extremely excited to unbox this product. The initial few times I used it, it was truly remarkable, with the exception of the tank. Unfortunately, it struggled with sand, even with the sand attachment. Instead of cleaning the bottom, I would manually stir the sand, and the vacuum would pick up the stirred-up particles. After approximately 10 uses, the vacuum stopped working completely, which was quite frustrating, especially considering the cost of the product and my expectations for better performance. Regrettably, the return window had expired, so we were forced to find a more suitable solution with a Python vacuum.
