High quality clips work great as heat sinks on model railroad.
I purchased these clips to use as heat sinks for soldering electrical power feed wires and rail end joiners on my HO scale model railroad track; and they work great. The track ties are plastic and can melt easily, but these clips are small enough to get into small spots and prevent tie melting. I also purchase larger 2" clips which can absorb more heat, and use the combination of the two sizes depending on the available space. These clips were shipped quickly, are high quality, and I'm very happy with them.

High End Copper Clip
Bought them for heatsinks, but I used one as overkill for my ten-gauge silicone clad ground strap ;)

Well Made
Good, solid copper clips. Should last awhile.

They are solid...
These are very solid all-copper alligator clips. However, one of the clips arrived bent. When did we quit caring about basic product quality?

Worked as I hoped they would.
Worked great. I was using lead free solder and was having trouble getting the solder to melt. Not having soldered lately, I wasn't sure if lead free solder had a higher melting point. So I thought maybe my soldering gun wasn't working right. Then I touched the clips that I had put at the end of the spliced open wire. I was surprised how hot they were. The wires beyond them weren't that hot.

Robust, useful little devices
I recommend these little clips to anyone who needs to hold wire leads together on an electronics bench test project. They're strong, and have decent grip. I also use them as heat shields for soldering the wire leads on transistors, diodes, or anything delicate.

These copper clips are perfect as a heat sink for the smaller soldering jobs ...
These copper clips are perfect as a heat sink for the smaller soldering jobs I am doing. I stripped my Epiphone Sheraton and have been redoing all the electronics. I have gone through a couple of expensive parts by overheating them. I plan to attach a resistor in line with a couple of these clips and these copper clips from ProTechTrader have wire insert tabs and a hole to solder a wire; I really like that the hole is on the top; it makes it so much easier to solder a lead onto them! Also I have arthritis and these clips have just enough grip and are not hard to open the jaws.Highly recommended for heat sink. Keep in mind these are more mini clips compared to the clips on your helping hands. I am sure they make different sizes but these are perfect for what I am doing. Thanks ProTechTrader!
