Emptied my old swimming pool
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I got the 1/4 HP version of this pump to remove about 6-inches of nasty standing water in an old 24ft circular swimming pool. The pump was lifting about 6ft to go over the side of my pool, but the end of the 3/4-inch exit hose was lower than the water level, so syphon action played a part. I was getting about 10 gallons per minute, and ran the pump for a couple of hours until the water was gone. It pumps very close to the bottom of the pump, so there's very little water left after it is done. There is a screen filter in the bottom of the pump which was helpful in not getting junk sucked into the pump. It's still important to remove as much debris as possible otherwise it would block the inlet side of the pump quickly. I personally could have used a longer cord, but this was adequate.I am happy with the purchase and would recommend it.

Powerful 1/2 HP pump at a great price.
This is a powerful pump, I purchased this to use in my in ground swimming pool. I had a small pump before that attached to a garden hose. It took a lot of time to remove standing water in the bottom of the pool after using the pool pump to empty most of the water out. I had to fix some rough spots and cracks in the concrete. I decided to purchase a stronger pump to get the water out as I was using a hose to wet sand damaged areas in the pool. This pump comes with a 1.5 inch NPT adapter which allows you to hook up a garden hose to remove standing water. Even though the pump is very strong it is still restricted by the diameter of the garden hose. I decided to use my 1.5 inch hose that I use to clean the pool with, I purchased this item from amazon (Replacement for Hayward SPX1091Z7, SPX1091Z4 Adapters fits Pool Filter Pump Hose Adapter Fits 1 1/4"-1 1/2" Thread 1.5" Fitting Connector PVC 2 Pack) it threaded directly into the pump and now the water comes out in buckets! just thread the adapter fitting into the pump and attach the end of your1.5 inch pool cleaning hose onto the adapter. Even with my 5/8 inch hose running full blast into the pool the pump will empty all the water out. Pump works great and is made by a well known company. If I end up having to drain the pool again I will probably just use this pump instead of putting wear and tear on my expensive pool pump.

Works very well for my pond
We have a small (about 400 gallons) pond that is contained inside a stone structure, so the pond is 'about' 4 feet deep... from the bottom of the pond to the top of the 'water chute' is about 6 feet.Centered below the water chute is a PVC 45 degree fitting to have 'about' 2/3 of the water flow going back to the pond for circulation... both 'up and over' and direct return lines have adjusting valves to determine how much water goes up and over and how much goes directly back into the pond. This pump, with the 3/4 inch 'hose thread' fitting on the top let me connect a 3/4 inch PVC line to go to the filter (not seen here) and back into the pond

Hard to get flat hose on but works
So far so good —- BUT it was a BRUTAL day trying to get the flat hose I bought to connect to the pumpIt says 1 1/4inch NPT so I bought a 1 1/4 inch flat hose to connect it and I needed to find an adapter at ACE hardware to get it to fitEven when I bought the adapter I needed boiling water and dishwasher soap to get it onGot it on though and pump works great —- just prepare to use a garden hose and sacrifice flow rate OR have a pain in the butt time getting a flat hose on itAlso the adapter you’ll need is a female 1 1/4 inch to 1 1/4 barb adapter :-)

Good performance with black water; solid value!
Quite a performer. I wanted to do a slow drain on the liquids tank in my septic system by pumping it to the distribution box. I installed a 100 ft long 5/8" garden hose to it and lifted the hose up more than 10 ft above the liquid surface. It still pumped more water than I wanted, which speaks well for the pump, but not so much for my efforts at flow control. LOL. Simple to clean when done by pumping 15 gallons of clean water through the pump and hose. Great value and now I have a good flow pump should I ever have a need to clean up a flooded area. For better flow control, I'll use a C-clamp and some boards to pinch the hose until the flow rate is closer to my needs.
