I wanted to get into the habit of sketchbooking. This looks pretty nice and it has some room for most of my supplies inside. It has a nice strap so I can use it as a 'purse' of sorts. But the edges are showing a little wear and the paint rubbing off. Not a lot but enough to be noticeable. It holds my sketchbook/watercolor supplies pretty well and there is a stick that you use to prop open the box at an angle if you want to use it on a table or your lap. Since I have a sketchbook that will not fit inside of this box, I am currently using a luggage strap I bought at Daiso and cut down so I can securly strap the book to this box.But overall I am happy with this purchase. If I had friends who were into art and sketchbooking like me, I would consider this a decent gift.

I was expecting this to look nice based on pictures. The actual box surpassed my expectations. I can fit my watercolor pens, pencils, drawing pencils, eraser, pencil sharpener, paint brushes, and two different types of watercolor paper.When I go out to do plein air sketching and painting, everything I need is in my box, including a easel which is made when you flip the wooden lid up.Best of all (for me at least) the box has a really nice deep brown leather strap, long enough to throw over my shoulder. I carry my box like a purse because it’s convenient and easy. I hope you are able to order this. I loved it when I saw it here, and continue to love it after having it for a good amount of time. I couldn’t imagine not having it now. I was getting so tired of having to lug so much stuff around to do plein air that I had stopped doing it.

The item received is not the item advertised.The item depicted in the ad is finished, has rounded corners and a sturdy strap attachment that goes all the way through the case to ensure the strap hanger doesn't come off. (depicted in the last two pics)What I received was an unfinished product with sharp cornered and strap hangers that are held on by two small, less than 1/8" surface mount screws. (as shown in the first three pics)This was supposed to be a Christmas present and because of shipping problems has arrived the day before so I'm stuck for a replacement.Hassles all the way around with this company. Save yourself the disappointment.

This is the cutest wooden box.I was concerned because of some of the reviews...I'm glad I went through with the purchase.The strap is different but I'm glad it is because I think it looks better without it on. Gives you the option to have it on or not.The wood is stained nicely and the hinges are sturdy the felt inside the box is nice. The pen holders are a bit small so choose your pens wisely.. no fat rubber gripped pens.The piece of wood on the outside of the box is sturdy will definitely hold a book.I did customize it with a laminated picture on the outside so if using it to write a letter it would be smooth and it looks amazing!!!Can't wait to give this as a gift.

This is a cheap version of what is pictured and described. The non-leather strap connects to the side with a flimsy hook rather than the nice leather strap connection shown. The wood and finish are obviously not as nice as what is pictured also. Every part of the box is cheaply done, which I should have known or suspected by the price. I would return it but I bought it over a month ago for a Christmas gift and set it aside without looking at it closely and now it is too late to return.

Purchase as a gift for a person that is a writer. It was a unique gift. She really appreciated it and uses it often.
