ROOFULL’s External CD / DVD Drive is exactly what I needed. Installation was quick & easy. The price was perfect, especially with the drive, including a carrying case. Unfortunately for me, office IT has our new Dell desktops anchored to the back of our monitors 😩. I had to get creative as the Roofull driver data cable is only 7.87 inches. Once connected to the desktop, the driver just hangs off the desktop. 😂 It was very awkward, so I used an old figurine box as a stand for the drive. The drive plays my DVDs perfectly on my work monitor. I was a little concerned because the drive was delivered in a plain zippered plastic bag and not a corrugated box to protect the drive during delivery. The drive’s carrying case is well-made, sturdy, and well-padded, so I felt better about lacking a box. I highly recommend the ROOFULL External CD/DVD with carrying case.

Pros: It works, it's fast, it's very light, it comes with a nice neoprene travel case, and it's inexpensive.Cons:Build quality is questionable. The thin plastic shell is so delicate that when closing the tray you can't steady it from the top because the tray won't fit so you must hold it on the sides. Also the tray's movement is not smooth at all.Summary: If it lasts 2 years, I'll be happy to buy another.

Works fine. Changed to Region 1 per instructions. Inserted disc and the files launched with no problem. The case is great and love the outside zippered part used to store the adapter. Also, registered product with Roofull who extended warranty to 2 years. Fits the bill.

At first this unit seemed like a nice, less expensive option for use with a MacBook. However, after receiving this drive, unpacking it, reading the instructions and setting it up, I was immediately disappointed in this drive. Here is how it went - I plugged it into my MacBook Air (has the M1 processor) using only the attached drive cable and the supplied USB-A to USB-C adapter. Inserted a commercial music CD (that plays just fine in other CD players and my Win10 PC) and the ROOFULL drive powers up, push the button to open the pop out disc tray, load a CD, close the tray and the disc spins, iTunes opens and the CD song list appears. The problem is when I clicked to play a song (any song) iTunes froze. So, I tried a different music CD and had the same problem. I unplugged the drive and re-connected it to the Mac. Tried again and it failed to play. I unplugged the drive and switched to another known good USB-A to USB-C adapter. Plugged in the CD drive again and had the same problem. So, I decided to try another music player that is installed on my Mac (and works flawlessly). Same exact problem, drive spins up, light is on, song list appears, but no song will play and the player application hangs. I was done…. Sent the ROOFULL drive back for credit and ordered an Apple Superdrive. It arrived today. Plugged it in (note: the Apple unit does not come with a USB-A to USB-C adapter, so you will need one of those if your Mac only has USB-C ports), loaded the same music CD that would not work in the ROOFULL unit, iTunes opened with the CD song list, clicked on a song and everything worked as expected. Even though the Apple unit was way more expensive, it works flawlessly. It runs very quiet - you hear almost nothing. Plus, I like that it has a disc slot and not a pop out disc tray like the ROOFULL unit. This feature makes it far easier and faster to load and unload discs. So, despite the ROOFULL description claiming this product works with Mac and Mac OS, certainly in this case, it did not work and therefore I can’t recommend it. At this point, no regrets spending the extra dollars on the Apple Superdrive.

The sound on this DVD player is much better than our last player. It plays DVDs every time without glitches.

Very happy with this DVD drive and the supplied case is nice too. The USB cable stores under the drive which is a nice touch. It started right up - it's very nice.
