Great quality and playability !!
I have wanted to order this guitar for a couple of years and I finally pulled the trigger and I'm glad I did . This guitar once set up properly plays almost effortlessly and the stock pickups were actually not bad but I wanted to change them out to an invader style humbucker in the bridge position . The neck is thin and smooth and the frets have no sharp edges . I switched to roller string trees and locking tuners as well . This guitar is just far above the squire strat with a flatter radius fretboard and a humbucker in the bridge position . Definitely more grunt than a strat and it plays better in my opinion . I've had 3 nice strats over the years and I just prefer the Pacifica over the fender all day long .

Great guitar
I looked for three months for a left double coil hum bucker guitar. This guitar is solid wood. The nude color is naked wood. It is beautiful, well built and hundreds less than the Fender 70’s Vibe with comparable sound. Great guitar for my son’s second year of playing. I was told by his teacher the double coil makes it so they do not outplay the guitar. If he wants it he can keep it for his guitar career.

Definitely a step above the rest
A lot of guitars come down to just 'preference', not only in how they're set up but also in materials used, pickups, etc - and then on top of that, with inexpensive guitars like this you're also kind of rolling the dice hoping to avoid legit problems in how the guitar was built. The only complaint I have about this Yamaha is, as others have noted, how it was shipped. I was amazed it showed up in one piece with how poorly packaged it was, but that seems to be a common thread also. Kinda weird.Anyway - this thing is awesome. I'm not an amazing guitarist by any stretch but I have a collection of cheap lefties (from my first $180 Squire Strat up to a nicer PRS) and this immediately, within a day, became my go-to for any clean or mildly overdriven sound. The pickups have a lot of body to them (especially fond of the bridge/middle blended position) and I *love* the way the neck feels - I'm a pretty clumsy player and a lot of neck finishes feel like they 'grab' my hand and this really just allows it to glide effortlessly. I haven't had it professionally set up yet but the intonation and action are both decent right out of the box. The tuning machines are very stiff which I'm a big fan of also. This is one of the least expensive guitars I own but immediately became one of my favorites, highly recommended!

This is a great guitar for the money
This is a great guitar I've been playing over 40 years I had a group when I was in 7th grade we played for party's and hight school graduationNow I play at home I would of gave the Yamaha a 5If the finish was smoother its not setup if you know how to set it up it is a great guitar as fare as being ez to play I spent too day setting it up the neak wasTrue the nut was to hight I have a smal triangle fileRedoes the material a little at a time and test after Avery 3-4 streaks the brage was to hight lower the too Allon a little bit at a time and test for fart retellThe pickups wore to low test one at a time the brage can come up clost to a bout 1/6 the middle about 1/8 and the neak side about 3/16 this is personal opinion the strings need to be replacedI like a good set of 10s ho and if you are used to playing a violin neak this rosewood neak is flat the ferates are closed on the ends may need just a little filling

there is some fret buzz and it could use a good setup by a qualified luthier but then so could ...
For the price you pay for this instrument, it's a bargain. It is, for all intents and purposes, a Fender Stratocaster clone without the name and accompanying price tag. And because it's a Yamaha - one of the premier musical instrument manufacturers in the world - you can be assured it's not junk.I wanted to dip my toe back into the guitar world after taking about a 30-year break but didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. I did a lot of research before selecting the Yamaha Pacifica 112J and have no regrets. It's decently made and plays quite well.If I were a gigging musician, I would have spent more money. But I'm not. I'm a hobbyist who entertains myself and occasionally my dog and cat and, if I'm lucky, my wife. It met my expectations almost perfectly. Yes, there is some fret buzz and it could use a good setup by a qualified luthier but then so could most guitars, regardless of make or price. It functions nicely: the fret board is quite playable, the pickups are decent, the overall feel, fit and finish of the guitar far outshines its purchase price. For a beginner or hobbyist, I highly recommend it. Then if you decide to move up the guitar food chain, keep the Yamaha ... because you'll find yourself wanting to play it more than you realized.

Best Value Budget Guitar
I did a lot of research (YouTube, Amazon, etc) before purchasing this guitar and I must say, I made the right choice. Build quality is excellent. Playability is excellent. Seems to stay in tune well (although I haven't really used the whammy bar much) through long practice sessions. I was concerned that the pick ups sounded flat in all 5 positions, but I realized it was my amp settings not the guitar. Now I can pretty get any Strat tone through my little modeling amp. All the reviews about packaging are true. Sketchy. However, my guitar arrived two days earlier than expected and I was out of town. It spent the night outside in freezing temperatures and a dusting of snow. I spent 5 hours slowly thawing it out - starting in the garage, then the coldest room in the house, then a warmer room until it got to room temperature. I was freaking out thinking it would totally warp when it thawed out. Turned out fine. The guitar was in perfect shape and ready to rock. Very happy with this purchase!
